With the mods you mentioned it turns it into a completely different car! I have a 2800 stall with a shift kit and gears! Its a total blast to drive! The Trans-Go shift kit is the healthiest shift kit for a fox. It actually extends the life of the tranny. But a tranny cooler is a must if you get a stall but they are cheap!

I haven't minded my stocker AOD much until I went over mid 300HP. Until then it reacted very well, surprisingly. I don't think it can handle what I threw it at since.
Anyway I have a custom built 4R70W on the way that'll be matched to a ~3000 stall (builder is calculating where it's going to go, I'm exactly sure what it'll be yet). I can't wait to be hammering on that

So you're saying 2800 rpms is the way to go? I have a 3200 in the Mach.
Actually no. It depends on the company. I have a Precision Industries and its a "little" to big. A 2400 is perfect for a stock cammed 5.0. Edge who also makes good ones for 5.0's go a little higher. Theres quite a few guys in here with them and they swear by a 3000 stall speed. Plus there a little cheaper them P.I. Yeah Mine was good for 7 tenths also!(With traction

+1 for Edge Converters. Installed mine last month along with a PA Valvebody that holds 2nd gear. No more "AOD shuffle" to hold second, but when you leave it in drive it shifts nice and firm. Depending on what converter brand you go with, give them your specs, gear size, cam, etc and they will recomend a stall for you.

Don't go with the shift kit. Buy the valvebody with all the goodies installed. Right after I did the transgo kit, I saw a valvebody advertised for almost the same price of the kit. With the transgo, you have to gut the valvebody and replace a dozen springs, drill holes, etc.

I agree with buying a stick car and teaching the wife how to drive it, or not letting the wife drive it. But, if you must buy a slush box, do a decent converter and a valvebody. My buddy put a Lentech valvebody in his AOD before the t5 swap. It shifted very hard, and there was no more AOD shuffle. It converted the shift pattern to 1-2-3, and had a button operated OD, pretty cool setup.

I agree with the VB over the shift kit. I went with the Lentech Street Terminator. Its pricey, but worth it. Like stated above. OD can be turned on and off and you have control over each gear. It shifts great.
I also went with a Edge 3200 stall, I personally wouldnt go with less than 3000 but thats up to you.
I threw in a Performance automatic hardened input shaft too just for safety.
and of course the mandatory auxillary cooler

My AOD is stock and is slowing dying. Worked fine before I rebuilt the engine w/ mods. I did put a little better than stock converter in which helped.
I like driving an AOD. I drive 75 miles a day in stop and go interstate traffic, screw doing that in a 5-speed.

I already have a manual fox the wife will never drive, I'm looking for a second Fox when I get to the States.

....well my 93 is a t5 and i enjoyed it, the wife cant drive a stick i tried teaching her on that car big mistake now she wont even try anymore....so i got her a 94 gt auto and i love the car more-so then my 93 i love manually shifting the 94 too. i am getting tired of clutching and what not with the centerforce dual frition clutch and gears and everything the car has become to much. it now sees about 1000 miles a year or even less 2 years ago it never left the garage. i think the auto can be just as much fun w/ half the work and its able to have the lady drive it if she wants
when you get back in june hit me up.....i might be selling mine......i`m lookin into the GT500...
