Boost-a-pump

i hear it has issues with a centri blower though. not major, but a noticeabel power dip when teh BAP switches on, since you set it at a certain boost pressure, the BAP wotn activate until you see that pressure, then all of the sudden it flicks on. the twin screws see x psi all the time, instead of growing liek a centri

Really? I thought it worked off fuel pressure/voltage, not boost pressure...
 
to be honest i havent looked into it or read much of anythign about it, im going off of what i read about one persons car. since its made by KB obivously its made to be used with a KB blower, which as i said, any RPM WOT makes the same boost pressure, where a centri keeps building. but i believe it triggers off of boost pressure (raises fuel pump voltage at a certain boost pressure) and that MAY be a problem with centri blowers.

somebody please correct me if i am wrong
 
well in the email I got back from KB tech says "The BAP can be used with any Nitrous or Superchanged setup" but heres a diagram. From the specs it says the BAP is activated at WOT on N/A applications and at 3lbs of boost on turbo and S/C apps.

How much power are you looking to make? If you’re not going crazy with the car a SVT Focus pump will work but if you want big numbers I would look into a Cobra tank and pumps instead. I know a lot of guys that test this stuff out. They all say the same thing about this; a BAP is a band aide. Its fine to use for awhile until you can get or afford what you actually need but not for long periods of time. It WILL wear out your pump faster. Last time I checked a BAP was like $250; that is ¼ of a Cobra tank and pumps. Just save up for those and you will be safe at mind.

it goes off voltage, not boost. a tuner may increase certain fuel values in a tune depending on where the car needs more fuel. but, the bap itself does not go off of boost

& i have a Novi 2000 & i have no issues with mine at all
 
I love how people chime in but dont read everything. I said that in my first post. BUT with the BAP I wouldnt have to drop my tank!:doh:

I read exactly what you said but that’s the only reason? You don’t want to cut corners on something important like this. Dropping the tank isn’t even that hard with the right tools and someone to help you. Trust me you will have to drop the tank eventually. Whether it’s when the fuel pump takes a crap or its time to upgrade to a better pump you WILL drop it.

yeah, 6 bolts & it's down if i remember correctly. 3 for the filler & 3 for the tank. it's not a hard job at all

Wrong, the BAP may deliver the alloted amount of fuel under a specific voltage, but it's activates under boost pressure via Hobbs Pressure Switch. The stock switch comes on at approximatley 3.5psi, which unless you're running a really hard spinning centrifugal set up your fuel pump running it's stock voltage should be more than capable of handling.

No prob. Just a little mixed up with a few of the facts. For the record, activated under boost and the amount of voltage seen is adjustable via remote dial located inside the vehicle. I located mine (hobbs switches 1 for BAS and 1 for BAP) in a fairly convenient spot. :D

Yeah, thats where I put mine too. Although I put my switches inside my armrest and are right there for you when you flip up the lid, for easy access. Not like I'll ever screw with them anyway. But hey, it looks cool? :shrug:
