Catted H - any options besides MRT??

I've been waiting a long time to buy a catted H for my 2000 GT. I'm ready to buy now but the only one I can find is the MRT and it's very expensive with the added cost of shipping to Canada.

I've done many searches here and I see guys saying BBK and MAC offer a catted H for my car but I can't find them anywhere Anyone know if they still make them or know of any other options besides MRT.

I am looking for the same thing Dr Jay. The only thing I found was BBK catted shorty H that needs to be used with BBK long tube headers.

I am not ready to replace my headers but want to replace my mid pipe with a catted H.

I called MAC today because people talk about a catted H-pipe but it wasn't listed on their website. I wanted to get a part number from them.

They put through to sales/tech and to make a longstory short they took it down from the site as they will no longer be selling them. I was basically told the cats were'nt that great of quality and I might get 20-25k miles out of them. They also said that it was taken down because the maker of teh cats wouldn't extend their warranty and stand behind them up to 50k miles as they were being required so they no longer make them either.

Basically it sounds like MAC catted H's are a thing of the past.

So it is either no new mid pipe, MRT or go to an X-pipe.

I have a catted MAC Prochamber mid-pipe. I didn't know MAC stopped making them due to problems with the cats (I heard the cats were Mangaflows).

I paid $599 w/ shipping + tax CAD from Spence @ 2kool Performance (highly recommended, BTW). I think it is a great pipe, but I am wondering after what I have just read ... if I'll pass my emissions test tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the info TeddyKGB. You guys running MAC catted H's, pls chime in. Notice any problems with the cats? I was thinking I still may be able to find one used or pick up one from a Parts store who still has one. There is no sniffer testing here, I just wanted the cats to cut back on the sound and smell a bit. What do you guys think?

The catted Prochamber is the best midpipe on the market (though it's not stainless.) They did produce a stainless one and I tried to buy one, MAC said they only sold like 6 of them though and stopped production years ago.

Don't worry about the cats, they will be fine. The only time I have read about people having problems with them is when they run their car for 20-30K miles without a retune. IMO anyone with an intake, midpipe and catback needs a retune anyway.

You will be fine and rest easy knowing you have the most badass midpipe out there!

I wanted a mac prochamber with cats due to the fact that I have side exhaust, and the fumes without cats would be to much. Me and my buddy just installed his MRT H, and looks and sounds badass.

Since you live in Canada and I'm pretty sure they salt the roads up there you should get something made out of stainless steel. All the ss midpipes are going to be around $500 US give or take $50. You really might as well get a MRT if you are serious about an H.

Yeah.....Just save up until you can get the MRT. Its worth it. I wont ever buy anything thats not stainless. Plus they sound better then any midpipe ive ever heard. I have the MRT catted H, & I think its just the sound you are lookin 4, because its not too loud but its got a deep throaty tone. Im sure mac is good too, but I dont want aluminized. I have the stock Magnaflows on my roush. But the car we installed the MRT on has 40 series flows. I'll try to get a sound clip.

Would love to hear that paired up. Also wondering if there was any noticeable difference in performance. I'm 99% sure the MRT is the way I will go now. Just like everyone else here I get compliments on my exhaust now and I'm only running a Flowmaster catback, can't wait to here it with a nice H pipe.

It sounds more quiet standing still, and less droning from what he told me on the ride home. But he says when he gets on it, it wakes up alot. Crisp and musclecar sound, I only heard it when we installed it, and he revved it. It sounded good!

Stupid me, I told the girlfriend how much it cost....you know the rest of that story. Need some honest opinions guys, do you think it's worth it?

I think its worth it because. A: its all stainless. B: It comes with high quality magnaflow cats that will last a while. C: It sounds badass without all the popping & raspiness. You might as well do it right the first time.
