FIrST TIME AT THE TRACK

what up ? i have an 89 hatch with a rebuilt 302 woth gt40 upper and lower trickflow twisted edge heads 1.7rr 24lb injectors b 303 cam 3:73 gears 70mm tb and i ran a 14.5

ok now i have really tight suspenion that is good for the street but too stiff for the track plus my tires were dry rotting but my best time was a 14.5 how bad is this ? what should i be running ?

i also had a set of cobra rims on that couldnt have helped

not sure of my 60 times i lost my time sheets like an *******......... my speed was 93 but i had to take off lieke a grandma to start otherwise i wiould just spin spin spin

You need more practice and decent tires.

yeah man thats pretty bad...i ran a [email protected] and all i had done to my car at the time was 4:10 gears, cold air, 2.5" bassani off road X pipe and 40 series flowmasters. that was on REALLY old drag radials too.

your **** is messed up somewhere. the ET isn't your issue really. I've seen people screw up in a Z06 and run a 14. Your MPH shows you are way down on horsepower, Stock 5.0's will run upper 90's at high 13's and low 14's.it is your mph (93!). You have a big problem somewhere- WAY DOWN ON POWER. lookout for 07 V6's while you are fixing this problem.

MAF not matched to 24# injectors? Horrible tune? Stock control arms? (I mean, what does "I have a tight suspension" really amount to? Are things beefed up, or just OEM stuff still in useable shape?) All of the above?

I thought I was doing bad when I only did a 15.0 in my stock H/C/I notch last summer. Yikes.

he said before he coulnt give it any gas or it would spin on the street tires.
if he had a good tire under the car and with the ability to give it WOT off the line i can only see the MPH going up

its too earlier to jump to conclusions saying he was down on power. its the uys first time, we only have a small list of mods and dont have his 60', 1/8th miles times and etc. we dont know much about his run at all.

a good tire makes all the difference

and what is this "tight" suspension you speak of what parts does it include exactly

i have caster camber plates and some kind of aftermarket shocks and struts and im pretty sure stock control arms but its really stiff and doesnt sit in the rear when i launch
