Yesterday the UPS truck brought me my SCT tuner from JMS chip as I was leaving for the drag strip. I wasn't going to load anything into my car at the strip because I wasn't familiar with the tuner and I didn't want to mess anything up. I get to the strip and there is a guy there that says he knows how to do it and its really easy. So I say ok that would be cool b/c I would like to see my times with my tuner. This kid has a 04 GT. Mine is a 00 GT. Anyways, I was supposed to have two tunes loaded on there for my car from JMS, an 87 octane tune and a 93 octane tune for my mods. This dude goes into change paramaters and says that I should change a few things because it looked like they hadn't changed anything. He does a few little changes nothing major and loads the tune. My question is: Did this dude just erase my tunes from JMS by changing a few of the "parameters"? The tunes were labeled 'safe', 'mid power', and 'max power'. I'm not sure if this is the generic label for all SCTs or what. If he did change the tunes what should i do?

no he didnt erase anything, just probably adjusted a few parameters that the SCT handheld allows for. you can go back anytime and change them back to normal or stock

So how did it run? Stock tune vs. max power tune? And yeah, you can just reload the tune he adjusted and move the parameters back to zero%.
So are the titles safe, mid power and max power generic or is that what JMS put in there? He adjusted my gear ratio, fan temps, and added 1 degree of timing on the 2000-4000 and 4000-8000 ( i think thats the numbers it shows) he didnt touch the 0-2000. Not sure why not but he acted like he knew what he was doing. So when you go to modify the paramaters of a loaded tune do they always show everything like its stock even though there was supposed to be a 93 octane tune loaded? I think that's what is confusing me. I was expecting to see things already changed.
As far as performance gains, I ran my new best time. The conditions weren't the best though. We had a lot of rain that morning so the humidty was around 90% or so. I ran a 13.99 at 99 2.1 60'. I did pull one 2.08 60' (street tires). This is my second trip to the track. I think I can run a better time with a little better weather conditions.

you will not see the changes that were made.the adjustments you see are you tweeking the tune that was loaded in the programer..why did he change your gears that should have been done with the tune you got...to put it back to the original tune it will ask you if you want to save adjusted paramaters just hit no!!!

He changed the gear ratio b/c when he went into parameters it showed all the stock settings. So just to clear this up, even though he changed some parameters and loaded that into my car did he change the original tunes permanetely? Or will the parameters go back to normal and the tune that JMS installed still be the stuff they put in after I go back to stock and reload the tune? Lesson learned on tuners now.
