torque converter flush

I just rebuilt an automatic, its an A4LD, so higher stall is a no. I need to get the torque converter flushed out or i'll have to replace it. Has anybody had any luck doing this? There is no drain plug, just the hub openings. I know most will say replace it, but i'd like to flush it, even just to see what comes out. Thanks.

Was there a problem with the torque converter? If not, any local tranny shop should be able to flush the converter although if filings went through the converter it could hurt the stator bearing and/or the lock-up clutch.

I doubt there is any metal shavings in the converter, but the fluid is really dark. I called around the local shops and they all said they don't have a machine to flush torque converters, just the transmission as a whole. I was wondering if any body has made their own flusher or flushing methods?

drain it as well as you can, then dump half a quart of fresh stuff in it, wiggle it around like your a freaky dancer, dump it again, repeat if necessary. btw what engine is this tranny for? the 4 banger conv. has the highest stall speed, but don't try it with a 4L.

Don't flush a lockup converter. I wouldn't even bother with that thing you can replace it for less than $100 the a4ld converters had their fair share of problems.

ditto, that's the one part that you have absolutely no quality control on. unless you run a conv. shop.
