exhaust dilemma

I don't know Cory. You car was sounding pretty loud going through some local tunnels!:nice: I do like loud.

Yea, it was. Offroad Xpipe and the FR500 exhaust makes for a nice high tight exhaust note, but still not as loud as SLP. Everything I have heard the SLP catback on has been teeth rattling, But if you put in your mufflers backwards, that might make it a little quieter, lol :D

I just put my H-pipe on lest week and holy crap my car got really loud!! It doesn't even sound like the same car. I love driving down the road past someone and pushing in the clutch and rapping the throttle and watching them jump out of their seat!:rlaugh: The American thunder system I have gave it one bad azz sound even at an idle.

Think about this. All mufflers will eventually get louder as they start to burn out. The only difference is the way the air enters and exits giving each different muffler its own unique sound. I personally have always liked Flowmaster due to the deep throaty sound on acceleration and the nice pop and rumble when down shifting and the car is just winding down without giving it any gas. Just my opinion though to each their own.

Your right my american thunders got alot louder as they aged and only ended up sounding sweet! At the time i had 2 combos on my 95 i had bassani equal lenths bassani O/R X and american thunder with 3 1/2" tips. Then i installed the american thunder cat back on my 93 coupe and ran the current set up of mac L/T'S mac pro chamber. I went out to look and the SLP's can only be installed one way. peace

I thought the gurgling sounds were from the H-pipe and went away with a X-pipe?

I just have FRPP exhaust for now but I should have JBA LT's with the O/R H-pipe by July...

I don't know about the X-pipe. I do have the H-pie so maybe that is why mine sounds like it does.
One thing to keep in mind is that loud is cool but cities and towns now have noise ordances which you could very well find yourself with a noise pollution ticket. Just a thought.

I've got bbk shorty equal length headers, bbk h-pipe, and flomaster 40 series cat- bac, on the Saleen, and i've noticed it getting louder over time! Some people don't like flo's, but to me you can't beat the sound!! :nice: Music to my ears.
You were on the cruize, I'm sure you heard lots of different sounding Stangs,
especially going through the tunnel!!

See Ya Bill

With the top down, I about went def going through the tunnel, lol.

They were loud going through the tunnel. ( remember the dude on the cycle, he probably thought it was loud too!) Just hard to pick out who was who!:D
I am going to go listen to 67effies exhaust and also going to Bickford to listen to a few variations they have on site. I heard a buddies Corsa exhaust today and that was sounding real nice. Thanks again for all of your inputs.

funny you say that as im taking the bassani cb off and replacing it with dumped slp`lm. This should be fun:Zip2:

On my '03 i did bassani o/r x and cat back. My research found two types of stainless steel used in mustang exhaust. 409 stainless steel and 304 stainless steel. The 304 is said to be higher quality hence more corosion/rust resistant which in the n.w. obviously has its benifits if you drive in the weather. I really like the sound, but gets a little slappy at higher rpm. If that makes any sense. I tried it first with the baffles in and then took them out which did minimize that sound. Cruising at 2000 rpm it is tame but let out and it rumbles, or get into it and it roars, I like that. I could be sniffing exhaust fumes but I am convinced of torque loss after putting the o/r x on. The x doesn't back pressure like an h, so in hind sight I may have gone h. my two cents.
