Well I've finally got a leak in the ole' top so it's time for a new one.

These things aren't cheap! :nono: And if you want a quality install and good material... sheesh!

Labor around here run anywhere from 350-650. The parts are about 250 if you want vinyl, 450 if you want cloth. If you need pads etc, add some more. And a warranty... sheesh. :)

I shopped around all the places in town and ended up settling on one of the more expensive ones. After talking with the owner who does custom hotrod interiors and has been in the business 35 years, I paid my deposit and will get the new top put on the first part of next week.

I'm getting away with $1,308.00 after tax for the cloth top, window and all misc items, labor and a warranty. Definitely not cheap - about $500 more than the cheapest actually but this guy does amazing work. He looked at my top and obviously had done this just a time or two before. :)

Hopefully it will be money well spent - a leaky top sucks!

cloth is nice. but i didn't know you had a vert ... :bang:

but definately get it done right. mine is too big or something, and the cloth hangs down on the passenger's side, so the window catches it when you close the door. really annoying after about 5 seconds.

also, in the place behind the back windows on the sides, where the water drips down and is supposed to be directed back outside the car was done wrong, so the water was running down under the seats and getting musty. i "fixed" mine with a piece i cut from a plastic butter dish, but it is a pain.

Seeing pics of your car and I think Caldwell's made me want the cloth. If it has to be a slow, heavy 'vert at least it can look good. :-)

Any progress on the tranny?

Did I email you to tell you I got the headers? Sorry if I did not, been CRAZY busy with work. :(

The guy at the shop was telling me that Ford switched styles somewhere around 97 and added some fabric to the tops to address some problem with the glass not folding right?

Just hearing things like that from him sealed the deal. He appeared to know what he was talking about.

Headers look great by the way. I can't wait to blow a head gasket or the engine just so I can put them in. :D

IF you want, because I am a nice guy, I will fly down there and beat the heck out of whatever car you are trying to get engine troubles on... and I'll do it for free...

Heck I may even bring a buddy so we can do a "24 Hours of Louisiana" till she goes... :D

Hey now that is mighty nice of ya! :rlaugh:

Taking it to the drag strip on October 14th for a good beating with the newly-installed supercharger. :hail2:

glad the headers made it there ok.

the tranny is done, but we are waiting for the mid-length headers to come before putting it all back together. hopefully they will get here this week, but prolly it will be next week.

Well there she is.

The cloth was an excellent choice. It looks like a million bucks! Upholstery shop did an amazing job.

Love it!
