Who here has driven 100,000 problem free miles on their Stang?

lets see...at 100K I think my intake manifold had been replaced..;)

since then the alternator an clutch at about 120k...and I just changed the gears at 184K (but that was WAYYY over due)...oh and I changed a front hub assy, but I don't think it really needed it, but after 150k it couldn't hurt

I change the oil at 5,000 miles (Castrol with a Motorcraft filter) and the gear and trans fluid every 50K (with Royal Purple)

I've been through a few sets of plugs and shocks and belts too...

did your plastic intake manifold crack?

stock upper intake and a 150 shot Nitrous=BLOWN
:(

Almost 123k, no problems currently aside from worn out coil packs and a slight oil useage which I feel is a PCV issue.

Beat the crap out of it, taken it to the track, autocrossed it...
nice :)

Under 100k I only had to change a wheel bearing but my trany has had what I think is a bent fork and some craptastic syncros since about 60k, 50k later it's still working.
109k I replaced my engine while upgrading cams because I found Ford slipped up with my engine in the factory. It made it 109k and would have made it alot more but I didn't trust it seeing occasional track duty and cross country trips being a summer DD. Plus to be honest I've always wanted to swap an engine.
oil always synthetic all around.
Every 3000-4500 miles for the engine.
Once a year for the trans and rear end.
Coolant, meh, when ever I felt like it.

I still haven't had my intake pop on me or had a plug blow out.

almost 90k here

replaced the IAC a few times
replaced brake pads
replaced the complete clutch assembly at ~70k
replaced the plugs and COPs just over the summer
all fluids were changed out 2 years ago

just really maintanence...nothing serious...except for a rust problem in my trunk reservoir/canal...whatever the hell its called

my 99 had 110k on it when I totaled it. I bought it at 48k. Right before I
was going to sign off I went to look at the engine 1 more time and I saw
a little green drip coming out of the intake manifold (pre stangnet days)
So they actually replaced it and I bought it the next day. But other than that
only the IAC and the battery. ( battery at105k)

the intake manifold cracked due to normal usage (no nitrous)? I wonder if I should replace mine for the heck of it.

Do you have the aluminum coolant crossover, or the plastic coolant crossover.

The problem was with the plastic crossover cars cracking the plastic. Ford upgraded to an aluminum peice halfway through '01 and that fixed the prob

if you have AL, you are fine

I don't know if I have an aluminum coolant crossover. Is there a picture of how it looks like?

Nope, i stayed with stock mechanical. Car was a DD at the time so i needed reliability.

I've always beleives electric pumps should be reserved for weekend toys or race cars...not cars driven on the street every day for 10,000 miles/year

I didn't know the electric water pump is for weekend cars. What's wrong with them? I know Meziere advertises a hp gain, but not much else about daily driving.

electric water pumps don't generally have the long term durability of a belt driven pump...they are typically for cars that need every last bit of horsepower...I don't think I'd want one on a daily driver...

this is what an intake with an aluminum cross-over looks like

(hope that worked)

you could always get a Trick Flow or an HPS all aluminum intake and get it polished up for some extra under-hood bling :rlaugh:
