lets see...at 100K I think my intake manifold had been replaced..
since then the alternator an clutch at about 120k...and I just changed the gears at 184K (but that was WAYYY over due)...oh and I changed a front hub assy, but I don't think it really needed it, but after 150k it couldn't hurt
I change the oil at 5,000 miles (Castrol with a Motorcraft filter) and the gear and trans fluid every 50K (with Royal Purple)
I've been through a few sets of plugs and shocks and belts too...
stock upper intake and a 150 shot Nitrous=BLOWN

niceAlmost 123k, no problems currently aside from worn out coil packs and a slight oil useage which I feel is a PCV issue.
Beat the crap out of it, taken it to the track, autocrossed it...
did your plastic intake manifold crack?
My 1988 has 105,000 miles
Other than routine maintainence...only part to ever fail at a bad time was the water pump. Was a $50 fix and took one afternoon.
yup...it had a hairline crack that drove me nuts for a summer until it finally broke...Ford reimbursed me for the parts but not the labor (mostly 'cause I did it myself and had no receipt)
it was the plastic water cross over that cracked...enough of them cracked that Ford exttended the warranty
did you get an electric water pump?
the intake manifold cracked due to normal usage (no nitrous)? I wonder if I should replace mine for the heck of it.
What happened?
Do you have the aluminum coolant crossover, or the plastic coolant crossover.
The problem was with the plastic crossover cars cracking the plastic. Ford upgraded to an aluminum peice halfway through '01 and that fixed the prob
if you have AL, you are fine
Nope, i stayed with stock mechanical. Car was a DD at the time so i needed reliability.
I've always beleives electric pumps should be reserved for weekend toys or race cars...not cars driven on the street every day for 10,000 miles/year
