TSX gone! WRX coming!

Oh man..you're now a full blown import troll like me.

Who said an aftermarket BOV hurts Subies? Why..that doesn't make any sense  As long as it evacuates the air so that the turbo doesn't surge, no harm can be done.

Not true. it hurts the motor.. Runnign the BOV causes the air/fuel tables to go haywire. On a stock WRX it will cause an extreme rich condition (or lean i cant remember im pretty sure rich) because the stock BPV recirculates back into the turbo to keep it spooled, and no air is evacuated to the air. Go to nasioc, and you'll find 1000+ reasons why a BOV is really bad for a subaru.

Yes...that is ALL I've read about the BOV. DON'T get one......so I won't. ****, I wasn't plannin' on it anyway. I also hear you don't want to get a MBC either. Turning the boost up with tweaking the fuel system will cause a lean condition as well, even though folks seem to keep doing it anyway.

I'll just run a turbo-back exhaust and get a tune....should be good to go. :nice:

Oh....and yes I lost a couple g's in the transaction due to negative equity....really sucked.....but at least I got one of the FEW cars I've always wanted to own as a DD. :nice:

I LOVE this vehicle. It's soooooo fun to drive in all conditions. And I am flat out amazed at how hard the small turbo on this thing pulls once it spools up. I can only imagine what the STI would be like, but this little car is QUICK for only being a bone stock WRX! And to be able to take turns at 100 mph and not even bark a tire......PRICELESS!

Turkey, as soon as I get a chance I will post pics of both my cars since I recently bought a digital recorder the other day. Can't wait to actually fill my forum garage, FINALLY. :bang:

Dude... WRX FTW!!! i loved mine too and i was saying all the same things you are about speed and spool and stuff as it was my first turbo car..

Do an uppipe, and turbo back exhaust, have a tune for it on the engine management so that you take full advantage of those mods, and you will be going 13.4 ALLLLL day and the turbo will spool up so much faster then it does!!!! PICS!!!!!!! :nice: :nice:

I'll have pics by this weekend for my WRX, but my Mustang is still under construction. My mechanic is taking his sweet f'n time with it and has been for the last 2 months. He's a busy guy, I can understand, but the WRX pics will be in this weekend FTW! :D

wow i can't believe this is a mustang forum and lately its seems all were talkin about is slow *ss wrxs

Annnnnd what type of Mustang do you drive?

Pretty easy to call someone's car slow without a signature. 'Course you probably don't even OWN a Mustang, therefore you really HAVE no opinion. And I'll bet dollars to dimes that you'll probably create a signature after this post claiming you've done every modification known to man which would rank your fantasy Mustang the fastest car in the world, right?

Well that's just NOOBerly fantastic. :nonono:

Ah..didn't know the WRX used a BPV. To be honest, I envy your situation.

I'm still lost on what to do for my next car. I have my Neon that's slowly falling apart, my Civic that is backup for the Neon when it falls apart, my RX-7 that I don't know what to do with (all I get is brutal lowballs when I try to sell it), etc. I went to the bank to see about a loan for a new car (Civic Si 4 door). Even with 2 jobs, no rent, $150/mo in bills, and no debt whatsoever, the bank wanted a cosigner on a $20k loan, with...get this...14.9% interest. I laughed at them. Then, for kicks, I asked about a $5k loan. They still needed a cosigner (!!!), and interest went up to 16.25%. Might as well buy a car on a credit card at that rate. Canadian car dealers severely gouge on prices; base MSRP on a Civic Si 4 door is around $28k here; it's somewhere around $19k in the US. So even though I have all my ducks in a line, I can't get a new car for an acceptable price, anywhere. I guess I'll have to buy my next car in cash :bang:

Didn't read the entire thread so some of this may be a repeat...

As far as the manual boost controller (MBC), forget it. The boost is controlled electronically via the ECU.

Buy this cable:

Go here and read till you are blue in the face:

Enginuity is a program that allows you to modify the ECU's table values such as boost and timing. All you need is the Enginuity program, it's FREE, the Tactrix cable, ~$90, and a laptop. Essentially you can tune your car however you like. Just make sure you do a lot of reading before you make your first "flash" because you can screw things up pretty quickly if you don't understand what you are doing.

Enginuity also allows you to datalog a "run" or length of driving time and will log all of the pertinent info and then you can analyze the data and retune accordingly. It is a very powerful program and it's all due to the Subaru open source community.

The stock WRX has a lot of potential that can be realized through a tune and all stock parts. My car ('05 WRX) is currently stock, except STI muffler, and I am running 17 psi peak and have the boost curve really fattened up on the lower rpms to give it more low end.

A catless downpipe is probably the best "mod" to go with for all out power. The stocker is very restrictive and includes 2 cats, this obviously is "illegal" but I did it for a while and power wise it really makes a difference especially if you tune it. I went back to stock because Mass. is very restrictive when it comes to smog and it wasn't worth the risk to me.

Ask any questions you have, I've been using this stuff for about a year and have a decent grasp on the Subaru ECU. Oh and where are your pics?????

Here's mine:

Talk to me is this for subaru's only?? i used to have an 03 WRX and i plan on having another one shortly.. This open source ECU tuning will basically take the place of like a ECUtek or Cobb AP??

Well guys, I FINALLY got my digital camera working so I can post some pics of my new WRX! Can you believe I ONLY paid $18,000 for her. I feel like I screwed the dealership on this one.

Now I know it doesn't look as good as 91LX302's, but if I just take 'er to the car wash she should look good as new.

What d'ya guys think? :D
