As long as it evacuates the air so that the turbo doesn't surge, no harm can be done.Oh man..you're now a full blown import troll like me.
Who said an aftermarket BOV hurts Subies? Why..that doesn't make any senseAs long as it evacuates the air so that the turbo doesn't surge, no harm can be done.
Yes...that is ALL I've read about the BOV. DON'T get one......so I won't. ****, I wasn't plannin' on it anyway. I also hear you don't want to get a MBC either. Turning the boost up with tweaking the fuel system will cause a lean condition as well, even though folks seem to keep doing it anyway.
I'll just run a turbo-back exhaust and get a tune....should be good to go.
Oh....and yes I lost a couple g's in the transaction due to negative equity....really sucked.....but at least I got one of the FEW cars I've always wanted to own as a DD.![]()
I LOVE this vehicle. It's soooooo fun to drive in all conditions. And I am flat out amazed at how hard the small turbo on this thing pulls once it spools up. I can only imagine what the STI would be like, but this little car is QUICK for only being a bone stock WRX! And to be able to take turns at 100 mph and not even bark a tire......PRICELESS!
Turkey, as soon as I get a chance I will post pics of both my cars since I recently bought a digital recorder the other day. Can't wait to actually fill my forum garage, FINALLY.![]()
Dude... WRX FTW!!! i loved mine too and i was saying all the same things you are about speed and spool and stuff as it was my first turbo car..
Do an uppipe, and turbo back exhaust, have a tune for it on the engine management so that you take full advantage of those mods, and you will be going 13.4 ALLLLL day and the turbo will spool up so much faster then it does!!!! PICS!!!!!!!![]()

wow i can't believe this is a mustang forum and lately its seems all were talkin about is slow *ss wrxs

Didn't read the entire thread so some of this may be a repeat...
As far as the manual boost controller (MBC), forget it. The boost is controlled electronically via the ECU.
Buy this cable:

Go here and read till you are blue in the face:

Enginuity is a program that allows you to modify the ECU's table values such as boost and timing. All you need is the Enginuity program, it's FREE, the Tactrix cable, ~$90, and a laptop. Essentially you can tune your car however you like. Just make sure you do a lot of reading before you make your first "flash" because you can screw things up pretty quickly if you don't understand what you are doing.
Enginuity also allows you to datalog a "run" or length of driving time and will log all of the pertinent info and then you can analyze the data and retune accordingly. It is a very powerful program and it's all due to the Subaru open source community.
The stock WRX has a lot of potential that can be realized through a tune and all stock parts. My car ('05 WRX) is currently stock, except STI muffler, and I am running 17 psi peak and have the boost curve really fattened up on the lower rpms to give it more low end.
A catless downpipe is probably the best "mod" to go with for all out power. The stocker is very restrictive and includes 2 cats, this obviously is "illegal" but I did it for a while and power wise it really makes a difference especially if you tune it. I went back to stock because Mass. is very restrictive when it comes to smog and it wasn't worth the risk to me.
Ask any questions you have, I've been using this stuff for about a year and have a decent grasp on the Subaru ECU. Oh and where are your pics?????
Here's mine:
