new to stangnet. heres what ive done. build page

I just registered here on stangnet but have been lurking around for about a month or so. i have seen some people do like a progress page so i thought you might enjoy mine. i bought a 92 mustang gt red convertible in portland oregon. i drove it back. to spokane wa. so far i put a 5 speed in, did a 5 lug conversion, tore the body apart for paint, and rebuilt the motor. ive been a busy guy. i had never toyed around with a car and thought a mustang would be the best way to go. i did have a 00 GT but i only had it for about a month before i sold it. someone offered about 3k more than i paid for it so i was like. its yours. so for the motor i got some gt40 heads, a trick flow stage 1 cam, gt40 upper and lower intake, explorer injectors, explorer tb, aluminum radiator, electric fan, underdrive pulleys, 3g alternator, bbk headers, and bbk catless h, aluminum driveshaft, king cobra clutch, ford racing clutch quadrent, blue thunder short shifter, 00 shift knob, removed smog stuff. i plan to get some mac exhaust also. i also put on some eibach springs with 95 gt sway bars and have a strut bar to be put on. so far i think im on the right track. im looking into some 3:73 gears that i might install. but i need to get it painted next.

after the drive back from oregon

started taking it apart for the 5 lug swap and taking the fenders and front bumper off

its a 5 lug car now

whats that shifter and extra pedel doing?

all the stuff from the motor work

got the heads on

finally finished after a very long weekend. worked from 8 in the morning till 10 at night friday and then a few hours saturday.

and remember i have never worked on cars before and i have no one to really help me with them, so i think im doing pretty good on my own. more progress to come

hell yeah you are doing good!! Way to go man and good car to have as a learner huh?? there is a bunch of room under the hood of these cars to work around. Way to go so far, keep it up

hell yeah nice progress man! you're making good time, this being your first time and all. few questions though, did you torque down all the bolts to the proper torque specs? and did you use the correct torque down patterns on the heads and intake? just lookin out.

stock cam? good choice with the gt40's and the exploder intake, they have proven themselves very reliable!!!

i got a trick flow stage 1 cam for it.

and oh ya it has 115k on the car

one thing that sucks is that ive almost spent as much as tools than i have put into the car. i bought air tools and a compresser, as well as all the other tools. i will say the air tools are WELL worth it

Unreal mang I cant believe you have never worked on cars before and this is your first Mustang project, you are doing a killer job. I have been working on my Mustangs for years and will still send it out for a head swap. Keep up the great work

yeah i torqued the heads upper and llower intake down to specs. thanks for watchin out.

thats good, but not just that, there's a proper pattern you need to torque the bolts down in otherwise you can warp the heads/intake.

on another note, when are we gonna get a vid?

That thing must have some low miles. Once you get the body all painted, I suggest some 17" chrome Pony R wheels from www.ponyr.com

yeah i did the propper pattern, i found it on a swap guide on the internet. ill get a video up soon. i still have to finish mounting the electric fan. i hate that its winter and cant drive it. i really wanna take it out

i actually have 3 sets of wheels for it. i have a set of 98 gt wheels, 94 gt wheels, and 96 gt wheels with tires. i think im using the 96 gt wheels for it.

to not have worked on cars before and did a head swap, im guessing tranny swap, 5 lug swap, and body work is pretty impressive. nice work. the real question is how does it run? im really positive that it will feel like a totally different car when you are done. i wouldnt mind bolting on a set of gt40 heads or some fully ported e7s and a cam myself.

Very impressive work to do all that and be somewhat new to it. What exactly do you do for work and does it involve having a photographic memory? Thats alot of crap to take apart and throw back together ye know.
