i picked up a half dead notch today and i have a sneaking suspicion that it is an ssp package. i was wondering if there is a site devoted to tracking these cars so i can find some history on it. the things that set of the question is it has a factory 160 mph speedo and the ignition key unlocks the doors and trunk too. if anybody has any info.... please let me know. thanks guys!:nice:

ssp notch ?s

i posted this in talk and got nothing so here! i picked up a half dead notch today and i have a sneaking suspicion that it is an ssp package. i was wondering if there is a site devoted to tracking these cars so i can find some history on it. the things that set of the question is it has a factory 160 mph speedo and the ignition key unlocks the doors and trunk too. also the guy said it needed an aod trans. when i got in the car it slipped a little in first but it shifted into second, third and fourth firmly. when i got going in fourth it seemed like it just wanted to keep down shifting. i have never had an aod car before and i have no idea what happens when the transmissions start to go bad. if anybody has any info.... please let me know. thanks guys!:nice:

Don't post the same thread in talk and tech. I have waited a day or more for someone to post in a thread. You only waited half an hour. Give it some time.
I merged your threads.

Pretty much everything you need to know about identification.

Here's my cardomain page with pics of my car's buck tags.

Finding those is the only real way to be sure that the car is an SSP, since every other part they had was available through a dealership and/or aftermarket, and that's if any of the original SSP parts are even still on the car.

does it have the silicone hoses and an oil cooler behind filter
Both of those were options available on SSPs. Not every SSP got them. I would say that most SSPs did not come with the silicone hoses -- they were an expensive and not really necessary.

Lineumup88: Now that you're sure it's an SSP try and look for the build sheet, it'll show all the options that were ordered. It's rare to find them, but you might get lucky if someone hasn't been tearing out the interior. Build sheets are most commonly found under the carpet, in the rear seat floor pan. They have also been found above the headliner, behind the rear interior quarter trim, and under the carpet near the firewall.

BTW: SSPs got regular, 2-core radiators from the factory. If yours is a 3-core it's a replacement. There are aftermarket 3-cores available that look and fit like stock.
