So I was in the 4th floor parking lot of my local mall at about 9:00 at night having some fun laying rubber and what not with only a few parked cars far away (stupid I know). After a couple of minutes of me goofing around, up comes a black and white, pulls up in front of me and asks me if I am offended by strong language. He proceeds to ask me if I was "****ing stupid".

He then explains my stupidity to me and asks If I want my car to be siezed or if I want a modified muffler charge. Of course I pick the latter but when I looked at the ticket, it says: "VC 27151" modified exhaust, and "advised 23109(c) exhibition of speed".

My question is, is that what I am being charged with or is that what the officer recommends to the judge my punishment be. What does the outcome look to be for me, and approx. how much will the fine be? I also noticed he did not circle whether it is a misdemeanor or an infraction either. This is california by the way and keep in mind this is my first moving violation ever. Experienced law breakers please chime in.:Track: :Track: :Track:

aww we all have done something ignorant before. You learn from those kinda mistakes. I got ticketed for doing a burnout in our work parking lot a long time ago in my ole 86GT (like 7-8 years ago). He wrote me for wreckless driving, which was $380.00 and 6pts, our liscence has 12pts to start. :jaw: , anyway lucky for me we do the alignments for the City Police and I got some inside help and the ticket was reduced to a $25.00 court cost and 48hrs community service, but NO POINTS:nice: .
Anyway good luck and don't do stupid stuff like that anymore unless you are in the middle of nowhere, and even then you should think twice.:D

Well, you WERE being a ****ing idiot, pay the tickets. Lesson learned. Messing around in your car is fun, in the right environment. What you were doing is almost ricey.

Play in empty lots of at the track.

:stupid:

You got caught, now you just have to pay.. When you go to court you can ask to pay more and reduce the points.. something like that, Redeemedsoul will tell you when he gets on.. I know hes been through that plenty of times.

Other than that, find cops.. Make friends.. You would be surprised how much that can get you out of.:D

my uncle's a cop... not just a cop, but a well-known, liked cop. so getting out of **** with the troopers helps me out a bit as well. i haven't been ****ed yet. then again, the only thing i've gotten on me was an improper turn (don't ask - it was ****ing stupid and there was no sign that said "one way street".. it was also 2:30 in the morning). Anyhow, go out, get some friends, or get a badge - either one works.

wow, some people on here are ridiculous. not only ridiculous, but most likely hypocrits. i've been in a few bad situations regarding tickets, went to court and i got out of all of them.

perhaps i should be a lawyer.

"Hypocrits"? First off, it's "hypocrites", second, would you mind explaining how anyone on this thread posted something that may make them sound like a hypocrite? Before you answer, go look up the definition.

first off, this isn't english class; it's the internet - get off your high horse. second, you are going to tell me you've always gone the speed limit? never tried to do a burn out?

Go to your local library and look up the municipal code that you were cited for violating, and get a copy of the officer's affidavit (sworn statement) from the courthouse. You should be able to find a 'crack in the case' and introduce enough doubt in the Judge's mind to get it thrown out or reduced. Cops are pretty lazy with their affidavits because most people never read them or use them in court. Worked many times for me. Next time find a place to dick off where the pigs dont creep around!

As far as your ticket goes..

GET THERE EARLY (court date)
TALK TO THE PROSECUTOR

ask'em to double the fine, drop the points.

In most states you have 2 to 3 strikes and opportunities to do this.
Don't sweat it, its not that bad. (i've had 3 speeding tickets and 1 reckless driving ticket in 3 years, and am still at zero points :) )

Here in Indiana. If you go to court and the officer is a no show, they dismiss the ticket and its forgiven.

if they are going to hit him with exhibition of speed/power on top of the exhaust, you DONT want them to double the fine...just sayin, i had one and it wasnt cheap...as well as a few exhaust violations which can get pricey too...If i remember correctly the exhibition of speed/power isnt a point violation so i would just show up, look good (shave, haircut, dressed well) be polite, and see where it gets you. One of the judges here knew me by name when i was in highschool and still let me off easy because i was a polite kid and just admitted i was wrong.
