Just ordered Vortech s trim supercharger BIG question please help

ok I just ordered the Vortech supercharger for my 1990 gt. I have a few questions... first I have 24 pound injectors is this ok to run 8-10 psi? also I was thinking of buying a AFM power pipe how does this install? Does anyone have any pics on this? and one more is this. I have AFR 185cc heads (58cc) BBK SSI intake, trickflow stage 2 cam, 70mm TB, 75mm MAF, 24 pound injectors, stock bottom end (but it is freshly rebuilt). This bottom end has forged internals stock. Do you think the bottom end will hold up and the setup I have as far as MODS will be fine to make 500 rwhp with the Vortech S trim supercharger? PLEASE HELP:flag: :SNSign:

24 #'ers will be fine. doubt they will make 500 hp but will be good with a FMU a power pipe basically installs like a cold air intake. and the stock forged internals will hold more than the block will. and the rest of the set up sounds fine.
 
24s with no FMU wouldnt be able to feed that combo at just 39-40 psi fuel pressure

if you use the FMU 24s will work fine, the FMU isnt ideal and most people consider it a bandaid fix, but in all honestly its not bad at all like some people make it out to be, it actually works pretty well. i used one with 19s on my combo running up to 9 psi and it worked fine but not really my style, i didnt really like it. just the idea that i KNEW the fuel system wasnt up to the task by itself was enough to want me to switch for peace of mind sorta. i run 42s now, havent tuned it yet but plan to shortly. i'm not driving it now as it drives like crap but after i tune it, it should run great!

the best way to do it is get a bigger injector and get it tuned. much better than way, your fuel system can actually handle the needs of the engine rather than blocking off the return line and building pressures exceeding 100psi in the fuel rail.

i'd suggest 42s at least.


are you running the stock fuel pump?. the s trim kits include a booster pump but i would just a 255, a 190 would work but going bigger on the fuel pump doesnt hurt anything. especially when increasing boost and power is only a simple swap away.

i always thought i would be fine with 5 psi on my SC trim kit, shoot that didnt last long. it wasnt long before i threw a crank pulley on and made 9 psi. now i am hoping to throw a blower pulley on a make 12 psi or so. boost is addictive and since is so easy to make more, its hard not to.
 
Why chance it with 24's. 24's are commonly used on N/A combos.
IMO you will need 36's or better, if it were me I would go 42's. A big injector can't hurt but a too small of an injector can.

No doubt I would rather use 42s BUT my budget wont allow it right now. So I heard the FMU would make it work. I was going to get the SC kit, and the upgrade kit to 9 psi, but some guy named Tony at Vortech said he suggested I get the S-trim cause it would be cheaper AND if you buy the SC kit and the upgrade kit and you put the 9 psi pulley on the SC-trim it voids the warranty from 3 years to 1 year. BUT if you buy the S-trim it would produce 8-10 psi and still has a 3 year warranty. He also said something like it has a better impellar too. I want to run 24s right now until I get the money to switch cause then I have to change MAF sensor also. Also the kit comes with an inline 255 fuel pump.
 
yeah good move going with the S trim. if i could do it all again i would probably have gotten an S trim.the SC trim is a great blower and 5 psi really helped but i was looking for more shortly after.
 
no the install isnt hard at all IMO. you just take off the alternator and smog bracket. get all of it out of the way, and punch a hole in the oil pan, which isnt hard either, alot of people get scared of it but its easy. then assemble the blower bracker and it all drops in as one piece.

if you have your smog bypassed or deleted you will need an ASP smog elim kit( i used ASP, it has the hold on the bottom that the SC installed needs to locate the alternator) i ran mine with just an unhooked smog pump and it locked up and smoked my belt..

it was pretty easy. taking my time and whatnot it took me like 6-8 hours i think. it was the first time ever installing a SC ona fox. but once its all installed and you know how it all goes in you can have it out in no time. most of the pieces are in the main blower bracker which can stay in one piece one you initially assemble it, when i have to take it out i take it all out as one units, alot easier that way.

the motor wasnt stock, it had thumper ported e7s and a b-cam with a typhoon intake, nothing special. i was running the felpro stock replacment gaskets, but i blew the, i dont really think it was 100% boost related, but i am sure the boost didnt help lol. i replaced them with felpro 1011-1 head gaskets i dont think you will have a HG problem. keep the timing out of it and the FMU should keep it fat enough to keep you in the safe zone. and still provide a huge power gain.

thanks alot I have already changed to those head gaskets. If you go to this page. It is my myspace page and has all my pics and mods. I blew my stock ones on a bad nitrous run...... I will let you know how the hook up went and some pics and number too....
 
Don't waste your money on the AFM powerpipe, pick up the plastic version from UPR, it works as advertised, added 2 pounds boost to my entry level vortech supercharger:nice:
