Car doesn't run right at times

It seems only when it rains pretty good my car feels as if its cutting in and out when crusing on the highway, when letting off of the gas and then putting my foot back on the pedal it jerks really bad, sometimes under acceleration it hesitates alittle bit, but this always happens when its raining out. Could my intake be taking in some water or something it doesn't make any sense at all to me. After driving it in these conditions the idle gets alittle rough and surges up and down 500-1300 rpms and almost dies sometimes. I've already replaced the IAC, and am really confused.

Thats odd, every once in awhile mine will idle like that on a warm afternoon, but after a couple mins it goes away and may not happen again for another month.Always on cold start tho.I ve just chalked it upto maybe the computer needs some time to adjust...I dunno.

sounds like an ignition problem. time for a tune up, with new plug wires, and if you have coils, one of them may be acting up. At night time, get a spray bottle and spray the coils down with a mist of water. if the car sounds diffrent, or you see sparks, that coil needs to be replaced.

i was talking about importrx7 problem- engine problems in the rain are almost always some sort of ignition problem.
Your problem seems a bit more complicated to solve over the internet.

Sounds like bad plug wires to me.

EDIT

I've also heard of people having issues in heavy rain with getting water in the spark plug holes of the heads and having them short things out. Might want to take some compressed air and blow them out individually just to make sure it isn't something as simple as that before you go buying new components.

Mine just picks a random day to feel like a turd.

Most of the time when it rains is when it feels like it will run the best, its like a sick joke.

To help your problem though... I assume your BBK intake goes into the fenderwell, correct?

Is the splash guard/wheel lining fully in tact? Any holes in it? Anything missing infront of it that will expose the filter to water? If its missing or not aligned there will be alot of water up in that area, and if your filter gets wet it can suck in water (a little, or alot, depending) and that would not sit well with the MAF, or the engine itself.

If youve ever had watery gas in a vehicle you will notice it runs like chit, sputters, hesitates, so on... pretty much the same story with SMALL amounts of water coming through the intake. Large enough amounts and the motor can and will hydrolock.

Yah, i've got a little bit of front damage on my car, the wheelwell liner isn't completely in there in other words there are some gaps that i could see water getting through to the intake, i imagine that might be it, because when i've popped the hood when it does it and the top of the engine looks as dry as can be

I almost garuntee you that is your problem. Either ditch the fenderwell intake or set that thing tight so no water gets in.

your problem is ignition related...stop posting and start fixing..then start modding.

I wouldnt jump to any conclusions like that. How often does your car run like crap when it rains because some electronics got wet?

His wheel liner is gapped, he has a fenderwell intake, he is sucking water into the motor...:nice:

I can vouch from personal experience on mutiple occasions that water getting sucked into the intake causes the EXACT same symptoms he is explaining.

how many electrical problems have i had with cars having electrical issues in the rain? EVERY DAY. I see this at work all the time.

Well I cant argue with that then, but I still feel that the intake is the problem. Just based soley on the fact his liner is not aligned and letting water get up in there.

possibly..i've seen a lot of weird stuff.
the easiest way to find out..get a water hose and spray ignition components in one pass..if the car wont start afterwards you know why. cleans your engine while your at it so your killing to birds with one stone

hahaha, yeah.

I went under the hood with some simple green, water, and a toothbrush to clean the engine once...:D
