Dual electric fans?

I'd like to install dual electric fans on my '68. I'd prefer dual smaller fans over a single larger fan due to clearance issues with the water pump.

Has anyone had good luck with a particular dual fan setup? If so, what brand and size of fans and how much did it cost?

I'd like to flow 2600+ CFM

I'm running twin 10 or 12" fans in my 89 Ranger, for the same reason. If I had more room, I'd go with a larfer single fan, these two are marginal at best for cooling. I don't recall the brand name, but I bought them at the local parts house. Current draw is also more than you'd want. If I have the headlites, heater blower and the fans on at the same time, the voltage dips to 10 volts at idle. The Ranger's charging system is about equal to the vintage Stangs in output.

That sounds like something I'd like to avoid. I wonder if the marginal cooling/high draw is specific to those particular fans or if that's the case in general with 2 smaller fans vs a single larger fan.

Anyone have a good experience with dual 10 or 12 inch fans?

I know you want to go with duals, but there are some pretty thin fans out there. Spal is expensive, but they have some fans that should have plenty of clearence. THey also make pusher fans that you can mount in front of the radiater. We put one like that on the 68 EFI project car with a DCC box. Awsome fan. We could change weather patterns with it...just something to think about.

not sure if it will fit for ya, but the Durale has been the best electric fan I've owned, and I've gone thru quite a few different ones trying to cool my 6-71 blown stang.

They make some dual setups but not sure if they would work for ya. The single 16" is what I run now and it moves alot of air.

I have a flex-a-lite, low boy, trim-line fan. it is part number 118. It is a 16 inch fan, is only 3 3/16 inches deep, and moves 2500 cfm. I can recommend it.

Thanks for the input guys, I measured and found I have about 3.5" clearance, and it appears that there are singe 16" fans that would fit, like Jerry S mentions above. I think I may go that route.

Dual spal is the way to go. You really can't go wrong with them.

He doesn't have the space. He has 3.5 inches of clearance. The Spal dual 12" fan is over 4" deep. While it moves over 3150 cfm, it just don't fit.

It's only 2.28" in the middle.

2.28" not including the fan motor. 4.02" deep when you include the motor.

I don't think you understand what he is trying to say. You have a lot more room on each side of the water pump pulley. Hence the reason the center being 2.28" would be workable in his case. The 4.02 shouldn't interfere with anything.

I got my dual fans from Universal Parts, Inc on Ebay. I actually just contacted them via phone and had a custom fan and shroud setup made without going through Ebay. They turned around everything in about a week and a half.

I see. On my car with the single fan, the motor is 1/4 inch away from the water pump. If with the dual fans, the motors are to the left and right of the pump, then he would have room.

How much more is the amperage draw for 2 fans as opposed to 1? I believe a single 16" fan putting out around 2600 CFM is in the 15 amp range...Do dual fans pull significantly more or less than that?
