Need new alternator?

So I start up the Mustang and the AMP light pops on.. I look at the battery gauge and its not charging.. I'm guessing I now need a new alternator? Is there a write-up on how to take it out and all that, never had to do it before.. Thanks.

You should consider doing the 3g upgrade.

The alt is easy to change. 2 bolts and some wires. dont short em out.. disconect the battery first,

If you get a 3G from a parts store, get the NEW one it will last a hell of a lot longer than three months, or one year, or bad out of the box. In fact the new LLT alt I got from AutoZone and has the same little gold pulley like the ones from PA Performance, hmmm. The remans have a huge pulley.

I bought 12 feet of some good 4g speaker wire from a car audio install place for $11 (from a friend). Then I got a circuit breaker instead of a fuse for the wire.

Damn! Just looked it up on Autozone's website.. and the Gold- Duralast is $200.00!?

The regular Duralast is $184.99 so theres no reason not to get the Gold..

I think it was $170 or $180 at the time, but I got sick of changing them out every couple of months or weeks, so I broke down and bought it.

lus that was back when I worked there so it was around $145 for me.

The differnces are not only visual but the 3g out performs the 2g by leaps and bounds.

I know you have a system so you would benifit from the upgrade.

I went with the 200 because it was a good deal for the price and I have a system, ac, elec fans, etc

Yep. You will have to clearence the Aluminum alt bracket just a little
because the 3g case is bigger and will hit the bracket. Its simple to do with a dremmel or grinder.

I wouldnt do that. It comes in a nice silver.
