ASAP pls! Nasty noise, happened out of town, Broken rocker?

Dude just pull the valve cover off. It takes what like 10-15 minutes to get the upper intake off and less than 5 to get the VC off. You're telling me you dont have 30 minutes to tear that thing open?

I wouldnt buy a part until you find what the problem is. Maybe all you have to do is re-torque one rocker bolt? It just sounds like you have a loose rocker.

Is the car running like crap yet? B/c if you keep driving it like that it will get worse. Just pull it apart and fix the problem before you do any serious damage to the motor.

really!? i thought it took a lot longer than that to take off an intake. never done it before, but always just thought it was a pretty big job. i'm not driving it anymore, and won't until its fixed. it actually seemed to run fine when i drove it home, just really noisy at certain rpms

It is very simple. Just make sure you get another upper-to-lower gasket before you start the job. Also make sure to scrape/clean both intake mating surfaces very well before putting it back together. First, pull the intake ducting off of your throttle body, and either unbolt the throttle body from the intake (you'll need another gasket after doing this), or leave the tb on the intake and unhook the throttle cable and anything else attached to it. There's basically just a few long bolts under the intake dash plaque that you need to pull out, and the upper shood pop right off. You will need to get ahold of some torx bits to get the intake plaque off though, so keep that in mind. I have a feeling you'll have a better idea of what's going on once you get your valve covers off and take a look. Good luck.

take it apart take pics and post them. we will help you figgure it out.

Does anyone live near by that frequents stangnet that could help you?

yup...i like to leave the throttle body attached just pop the linkage off, disconnect the EGR, PCV, IAC, Coolant lines, and any remaining vac hoses for things like the charcoal canister...etc. The entire upper intake assy should come off within 20 minutes.

A helpful hint. Make sure to get some PB blaster on those intake plaque bolts...they can be very easy to strip or break. They use a very small torx bit.

Also remember that once you get the VC off you may not be able to see the problem right away. I.E. all the rockers may appear to be tight. You might need to spin the motor over a bit so the suspect valve(s) is fully closed and lifter is on the base circle of the cam. You can do this simply by pulling the coil wire off the distributor and turning the key for a quick moment.
