It seems like we always have "how many (insert any color here) cars were made in (pick a year)" or "what gear ratio did my car come with" questions popping up. Over the years I have built up quite a large library of Mustang-related books and there are quite a few very good ones out there. Two of my favorites are:
The Official Ford Mustang 5.0: Technical Reference & Performance Handbook : 1979 Through 1993 and Fox-Body Mustang Recognition Guide 1979-1993. The Fox Body Recognition Guide is out of print, but Amazon has used copies and there are almost always copies available on eBay. The Performance Handbook goes into great detail about year-to-year mechanical changes and has a chapter devoted to each mechanical system for each year. The Recognition Guide breaks down each year's production and goes to great lengths to break down all the door tag information.

If you have other "must haves" for a complete Mustang library, post them up.

an EVTM manual for you car. factory ford electrical/vaccum book with trouble shooting info. year specific, but most information crosses i think.

less then $20 on ebay.

THIS IS THE ONLY BOOK YOU NEED!!!! (Well, that and the factory tech manual that the dealership techs use, my friend used to work at a dealer and scored me one for free!) I was preaching this book to someone on this forum just the other day.

Hastings also normally keep this book, at least the one here does.
