Pinging above 5000rpm

What's the mileage on your car? Might be time to run a can of seafoam though it. Carbon deposits can sometimes gum things up on the top end an cause pre ignition like what you're experiencing. Pulling a degree or two of timing out of your tune like Tim stated will also likely cure your problem though. :)

I'm close to 70k. I will do the timing and see how that goes.

I am having the same problem with my tuner. Is it a diablo? I noticed it last night when racing a friend at the track for fun. This is probably stupid but I noticed at the pump now they are adding ethanol to the fuel, there is a sticker on the pumps that will say "up to 10%" and such, does that have anything to do with anything? I dunno just a thought. But I would like to hear how you came out with the tune.

Before you guys with K&N FIPK Gen II CAIs do anything else, you might think about replacing that intake, or at least going back to the stock setup for a test. My GT made decent power with the K&N but also pinged like crazy with it.

I've got a JLT on it now and just don't get the same rattle anymore.

Mine did it before I put on the gen II. I notice it pings mostly when I have a passenger with me. If it’s just me it doesn’t seem to ping much at all.

Then you are probaly running on the very, very edge of how much timing to safley run.

If it pings with the additional weight of a passenger than it is only taking that much extra load to cause the motor to ping.

Id probaly back it down a degree or two and try the passenger theory again, lol.

Sounds good, that will probaly take care of your issues.

My problem was I had too much spark advance and too little fuel. As in... 13.6-13.8 A/F ratio... for a long time. Yikes.

Now I can run that same timing it used to ping on since I added quaite a bit of fuel in.
