I really want some sort of stripes, perferably the one thick one like HeavyGT has, or even the factory style ones, but I have the factory hood scoop and I can't think of anyway that it would look right unless the scoop had stripes over it too, which would be difficult with vinyl, or to just have the stripes cut around it, whick might look goofy. So does anyone have stripes of any kind with the scoop, and if so please post pictures so I can see how it looks.

Thanks for the pics guys. Jmanpatsfan, are those paint or vinyl?

Highvolts, I see how it works with smaller stripes like yours really easily. I want wider stripes, where they'd have to go over the edges of the scoop (yours only have to go to the edge), which is the problem :(

Emay, thanks for the pictures you posted, I've never seen one with the stripes cut around the scoop. It actually doesn't look half bad. My car is Alloy, and I want either black, flat black, or tungsten stripes. How do you think they'd look cut around the scoop in my colors? What about a single wide stripe like 1heavyGT has?

Thanks again for the tips/pics.

hmm. I up close does the vinyl look weird where it has to wrap around the shape of the scoop or anything? I didn't think they could vinyl something that contoured. So I guess I have both options.

Urban, they heat the vinyl and it actually ends up wrapping very well. Technique has changed a lot and a good vinyl guy will make that scoop look as if it's painted.

You asked about Heavy's style stripe, that's by far my favorite layout stripe wise and if I ever did a stripe, that would be the one i'd do..

Thanks Emay...

Let me know.

I agree with you Emay, I love his stripe layout. I also want that hood some day, it looks sweet. But meantime I wonder if it would look ok if I got the same style stripe but with my scoop on top?

HeavyGT, I do, I live in Chicago on the NW side. My brother lives in Alqonquin, and I've passed through Bartlett many times working with him. My friend Frank has actually been spanked around on the highway by Emay (he recognized the car from here) in his Firebird hahaha. I still want to see/hear your car HeavyGT. I need to find a day I can meet up with you or something.

Does vinyl hurt the pain in any way? Like if I decided one day I didn't want stripes, would it look the same underneath after removing them?

Once I figure out what I wanna do, I'd like to give your guy in Roselle a call, a place with good reccomendations is always good to have. And one last thing, how much did it cost you to have that hood painted? I love that hood.

Would look cool...

Hopefully you can meet up with us at one of the shows this weekend if you want to hear the car...

Don't think the vinyl will hurt the paint in anyway....

I love the hood too! The hood was actually painted by Emay's friend for $200.00...I just supplied the paint and that was $60.00. The hood was originally Emay's...he sold it to me! :D

What's Frank's bird look like? Is he a Meijer go'er?

The only issue you will find with the vinyl is possible paint fade, obviously there is no sun getting under the vinyl so the exposed paint may show lighter than the area under the stripes.

If your a meticulous detailer/ waxer, then you have less to worry about than those that don't do the maintenance at all.

It's a stock LT1 convertible, it's red with a black top. I was looking at pictures on this site one day at school and he say your car and mentioned that he was messing with you on the highway and got whooped.

I was just at Golf Mill Ford getting something fixed (steering wheel had a scratch in it when I bought the car), and they have a new GT with a stripe setup very similar to HeavyGTs, and it has the scoop, with the vinyl covering it. It looks really cool, and you can hardly tell that the scoop is covered in vinyl unless you look close, so I guess it is possible haha. It wasn't quite wide enough though (the stripe). So I think what I'm going to do is get the stripe like his, but not over the scoop. Then after a trial period if I don't like it, I'll get the scoop covered, if I do like it, then I'll obviously leave it.

Heavy, could you tell me exactly how wide your stripe is, perchance?
