Ever wish you still had the stock exhaust still on?

I appreciate the sound of a nice Mustang, but man, i must be getting old.

More and more i'm wishing i kept my stock GT cat-back.

Even though my car isn't that loud with only a Flowmaster cat-back on it, there are some days i'll be driving around and wish it still had the stock exhaust. It's not the drone that gets to me...it's the overall loudness.
No, I have my man card!

I used to have 2 chamber flow and now I have magnaflow magnapack . Love the sound of my exhaust as magnapack is way better sound then flow master. I am now 31 and have 6 months old daughter , I drive really slow when I taking her to day care so I do miss my stock exhaust .

I am getting old and family is more important then my loud exhaust car.

Lol, i guess i should elaborate.

My car is my DD. 95% of the time i'm just going from point A to point B. Sometimes i have people with me and they don't appreciate the sound of a loud exhaust like you or I. In those situations, I sometimes wish the exhaust was quiet.

I'm finding myself in more and more of those situations quite often...1 of the reasons why i'm selling my car to get a normal DD :(

I am in the same boat as my mustang gt is my DD. I am thinking of nissan rogue, I just hate to put my daughter in back seat as it it just pain in the ass to get to.

I have to say I appreciate my stock exhaust on my 04 GT. I am 29 years of age for starters, have been there done that with setting off car alarms with the Notch, have since changed the exhaust combo, prochamber and ultraflos dumped (had flowmaster AT's)---still quiet cruising down the road...Love it. Loud enough when I jump on it...It is a respectable sound, not a menacing sound that forces people into signing bans on aftermarket exhaust.

I did the 4dr nissan 4cyl fuel saver route for a while and went back to a Mustang for a DD. Don't get me wrong the Spec V was fun, but the shifting sucked in stop-nn-go Chi-town traffic. Key point with the 04 was to keep it stock. It has enough of a rumble to let you know it is in fact a v8, but cruises like a Caddy down the highway.

I bought a slushbox though so if I have to take any kids, I take the wife's Xterra and the she can drive the Stang.

The 2.5 was redesigned by the VQ engineer so it is a much better engine than the first run of QR's. Rogue seems to be a practical little bugger.

I think the Rogue should have an upgrade version to the VQ35 to compete with the 269 hp Rav, too bad it will never happen.

On another note my wife's 4x4 2006 Xterra averages 20-22 mpg REALISTIC; if you wanted something a bit more manly.

2wd will do even better.

The stock exhaust was not that bad on the 99+. Even the 05+ has a good sounding stock exhaust.

When i was 16, and owned my 5.0 with my buddies, we thought louder was better. I used to ride around with my friend who just had an off-road h-pipe...and nothing else! We thought it sounded cool cuz the car sounded like the world was coming to an end. Now i'd prob be embarrassed to drive a car with no exhaust at all.

I guess as i got older, i grew out of it. I'm 27 now..and actually put the cats back on my 5.0 to quiet it down. It still has the flows though and since it's a "fun" car i don't care if it still rumbles.

I wish the car had a switch that i can flip so it has a louder than stock rumble when i'm just out on a sunday cruise...and a stock exhaust for when i'm DD'ing.

I love the sound of mine cruising in town. I agree that on the highway, the drone gets old. I get all kinds of compliments on my setup tho.

That's why on the notch I switched over to ultraflows... Lt's into powerchamber into ultraflows and she cruises nice and quiet, but if you drop it down a gear and hammer on it with some boost, it get's plenty loud.

I got tired of the flowmaster drone, it started to give me a headache after a while. Now, I can roll the windows up, turn on the air, listen to a CD and still hold a conversation with anyone else in the notch; it's a beautiful thing.

The GT can be a tad quiet at times, I just fold the rear seats down to listen the the exhaust a bit more if I choose.

As far as cats are concerned, my notch sees about a 1000 miles a year and is IL show car exempt. The GT on the other hand, well, I guess I must be getting older because I'd rather be out riding the scoot than wrenching these days.

I thought that when I first read your thread. :D

At times, my 2 chamber 40s sound cool, but at other times, they are annoying. It's not so much the volume, but the drone. No one likes to ride in my car, which can be both a good and bad thing. :D

I'm close to doing one of two things: making it louder (Magnapack catback) or quieter (Magnaflow catback).
