My Engine Rebuild (pics) and a ? or two

well I'm rebuilding due to spun rod bearing and replacing tranny w/ 3650 due to fourth gear rejecting me.

firt my questions are...

where are we gettin the best deals on clutches these days...

I was sent oversized pistons and rings by sealed power...I don't need the block bored so I am exchanging them for standard size sealed power pistons...do I need to exchange the rings as well or will the new ones fit the same as the oversized ones?

When I get a clutch Am I getting one for a 2000 (that's what the car is) or for a 2003 (it's a t3650 from an 03)
I ask because ebay shows alot clutches for 94-01 - what's the dif?

piston rings match the pistons. make sure you have the block completely checked by a competent machine shop. also when you do your pre-assembly of the shortblock, file the gaps on the piston rings.

I wish I knew how to rebuild an engine! Where did you get the experience to do that?

You want to get a clutch for a 3650 tranny. That is where the difference is. The older GTs used the T45 tranny and that clutch will not work w/ the new 3650 you have(new to you). Looks good an good luck. Your shop/garage looks pretty clean compared to my work area when I pulled my engine.

i went to the automotive school at my local city college. im ASE certified in 5 areas now. i work at a ford dealer in parts, but i try to keep up doing side jobs. i have about 40k in tools to keep me happy.

Clutch will work just fine if he has matching fly wheel. I run a T-3650 and have a 10.5" king cobra clutch and 10.5" flywheel.

The difference is that up to 01' the clutches were 10.5 inches. After 01' they went to 11'. Someone already said it but you should get a clutch that matches the flywheel. I am guessing the motor is from the 2000 (out of your car). If you kept the stock flywheel it will be a 10.5 in. clutch. If you bought an aftermarket you would get it to match what you bought. 10.5 is better I have heard. More choices for clutches, less rotating weight, etc.

I dont want to read all the posts but you going to P&P the heads while its apart.

You will have to exchange the rings with the pistons. You might want to decide what your plans are for this engine now. If you are going to use nitrous, super or turbo charger ar stay NA you need to decide before you set the ring gap.

Why not just have it overbored while its at the shop getting honed. Most shops only charge around $100 for it.
