What's a good MAF nowadays?

I've always been a Fox guy but now that I own a New Edge I'm wondering what the most reliable MAF is these days, based on my mods what do you guys think?

I have to be honest, The guy I bought the car from told me it ws a C&L 90mm, seeing how good the car ran and that the MAF is tucked in the fenderwell I took his word for it. But I looked at C&L's web site and could not even find a 90mm MAF! The biggest they had for my app was 85mm.

I am getting ready to buy 42 LB injectors from BUYFORDPARTS.com and noticed they have a pretty sweet deal on the Lightining 90mm and 42 pounders. With that being said, is the 90mm Lightning Piece any good? It would be easier for me for the install and I may save money instead of having my tuner install them before it gts tuned. This way I can install the new parts and drive the car to the tuner for the tuning instead of having him do the injectors becaise the C&L wont be calibrated for the 42's!! I'm lost, pleae help.

Well i can't say from experience, but i have seen people recommend the lightening MAF before. Thats a good company to deal with. I know of a few people that have run that MAF with no probs.

with your mods i would not recomend a lightning maf due to the fact that you will probably peg it with a 3.12 pulley. some guys peg them with 3.33 pulleys. I would either go with a sniper bazooka or sct meter. you wont peg either one with your mods and it will leave you plenty of room to grow. if you plan on building up your engine and adding more boost you should just buy a big maf and some 60lb injectors. it will save you from buying parts twice. regardless of your plans dont get a lighting maf.

Thanks, I dont plan on building, I just want to give my tuner enough room to set up a good but safe tune. I know my 36ers were pretty much at the limit!

Anyone heard of a C&L 90mm Mass Airflow sensor?

If it is a c&l maf then you can just change the flow tube to 42lb and it would be a lot cheaper then buying a new maf. Pull it out and see if it is c&l. They have the flow tubes on c&l's web site.

SCT makes some nice meters. i'm running the SCT 3000 and it is seeing 1015 counts with 22-23 psi. get the small sct meter (SCT2400??)and you should be fine with what you have

Agreed. SCT 2400/2600/2800 are hood options. It wont peg the 4.7v range ones, i think it goes to like 5.0 and it tricks the computer into thinking less air is moving through so it can work properly and not peg. Actually, I have a use good condition SCT big air 2400 that might not be promised off. Pm me if you want.

Thanks for all the reply's guys, But I spoke with my tuner last night and he suggested I go with the Lightning 90mm and FMS 42's based on the tune that I want and my plans for the car, which are to basically stay around 400rwhp safely. I checked out the SCT products and they are sweet but a bit out of my price range right now. I'm trying to budget for the injectors, MAF, Powerpipe and dyno tune, right now I'm at about $1,000.00 for all and that's where my wifey is drawing the line until spring! Thanks again.

Yeah, for 400rwhp the 90mm LMAF should be fine. SCT is more for like 440+
