83 5.0 A/C DELETE

Hi everyone... I am wanting to delete the a/c on my 83 GLX 5.0 convertible. The kit from Ford Racing says it fits only 86-93. Why won,t it fit the 83? The pulley system on the 83 looks the same as my old 89, if I remember right. What other options do I have. Thanks for any help...

On my 82 I used a Power Steering relocation kit (moves into AC place) which required a bone yard factory aluminum cast piece costing $50, abolished the AC system entirely (saving a ton of wt), abolished the air pump (no idler pully), abolished the stock auto tensioner, got an adjustable billet Alt kit. Then I had to measure the whole thing with a rope to get the right length belt. But it worked fine. Be sure to get rotations right when you're all done deleting pulleys.

All from Mustang's Unlimited and a couple other usual Mustang sites. It was all available for not much money.
