your makin alot better power then i woulda thought for a hyd roller cam setup with huge heads like that. what size cam is it? im buildin somethin similar with an R block but will be using solid roller an Rhs 215s. your car looks like alot of fun to drive an is makin me want to get my motor done as soon as possible. any other vids?

i was also supprised about the power it made and the fact that the motor has far less peak power than my old 302/novi2k combo, and is much faster now.

The original plan was to put a 76mm turbo on the car and shoot for 700rwhp(which is why i bought the big heads), i was told when i bought the motor is was 9.7:1 CR, but it turned out being 10.75:1 and with the funky rod length i had no option for a dished piston.

Even my tuner thought the motor was going to be a tad lazy without nitrous, but when he drove the car it blew him away how much grunt the motor had all over the place. I think the motor is so aggressive because of the stroke/rod combo, and the compression height is under an inch, so it makes for one angry little small block.

I want to put a solid cam in it and see what it really will do but there are other things that will have to come first, plus the car runs fo well that i dont want to F with it, and i never have to adjust the rockers, which is nice. the cam is a comp 282 HR, nothing too radical, just an off the shelf comp nitrous cam...

I cant link any vids from work, but if you go on youtube my username is THEDOC612, and all my vids are on there. there is only one with the new motor, but theres some cool stuff on there.

Never even looked at this thread because of the title. Glad I did now. Sounds great, once you swapped out the stock dist. did it seem to fix the timing issue? Sure that thing is real snappy and fun to drive. Whats the plan for the nitrous kit?

yea the timing issue was solved after the new dist. The problem was that way back when i installed a new module inside of my stock distributor I didn't know to check the endplay, and there was ALOT of it. I was young and thought nothing of it. So when we were on the dyno we noticed that the timing wouldnt stay put, as soon as the cap came off they knew what it was, you could literally move the rotor mabye .030'' each way. So i saved the motor because when we took the stock one out you could see the wear pattern on the gears was bad news.

Im up in the air with the nitrous situation... I was planning on buying trick flow's kit designed for the R- manifold, but recently ive been thinking about just putting a Single Plane intake and a carb on it just for simplicity and in the long run it will be cheaper. If i keep the car EFI i know that im going to probly buy Big Stuff 3, then a fuel system, etc. etc. But if i had a carb on the car it'd be alot cheaper, simpler and possibly faster. As far as a shot goes, the Trick Flow R-kit limits me to a 200 shot, but if i had a plate kit i would probly throw a 250 or 300 shot at it. :Track:

this is the kit im going with, at this point i'm going to concentrate on the chassis befor i touch the motor anymore. I want to get the car running consistent low 11's before i even think about spraying it, the car should be in the 9's at that point(with nitrous), and then im probly going to have to switch to an automatic. So i want to get the car straight the way it is before i open another can of worms.

I dont want to tap the intake, for a couple reasons, that trick flow kit basically does the same thing as putting nozzles into the intake, and if i ever have to sell the intake it will be a nitrous guy only buying it and i'll loose all the time/money i put into a custom nitrous system that is one off to my car

i am from lebanon/windham area. you should come down to the berlin turnpike with the car sometime this summer we all go up its a good time. keep us updated, its coming along great

Ive never had my car at the pike, but i've been there with my truck before, that place HOPS is the sh it. Since i work within 20 minutes of there now i'll definitly be stopping by. Anyone ever go to Mark's cruise in gramby?

As an update, i called Tube Chassis Designs in Hanson, MA and its going to go there on saturday to have the Tq. boxes fixed and through the floor subframes put in and possibly putting a cage in depending on how much my Tq boxes are going to set me back. Im getting excited for the summer.

ive never been to marks but ill probably go this summer. the pike is a total blast.

So i brought the car to the Chassis shop last saturday and here's what im having done

-Through the floor subframes
-Adjust Pinion angle
-Fix Torque box damage
-Driveshaft Safetey Loop
-Custom 8-point roll bar tied directly into the upper torque boxes

So last night i get a phone call and an e-mail... here are the pics, the upper passenger side box is ripped about 2 inches from the body, he said its close to the worst tq box tear on the upper that he's seen in a while.

enjoy

the white blur is actually a Quarter, he put that in so i can guage how bad the tear is.

Pics are kinda ****ty quality, but he's gonna try and send me some more tonight or tommorow i think. He hasnt started the bar yet, but the frame connecters are mocked in and ready to be welded and it should be all done by sunday

Been to both the Pike and Marks. Marks is fun, but tough hitting traffic trying to get there (for me anyways) and not to mention with my new work schedule it's almost impossible. The Pike I usually try to get to, but this past summer I didn't make it out a lot.

This year I should be up there!

Sucks about the tq boxes, but nice your getting the chassis done before anymore damage happens.

Marks is a nice country ride for me, i usually go through agawam to get there, and now its litterally 2 minutes from where i work.

Ive known the tq boxes would need attention since i put solid bushings in the car, so i was well prepard for this, just didnt expect it to be thatbad haha
