i posted this in a different part of stangnet with no reply's so i figured i'd try it here. i was wondering what you guys think i can pull off as far as 1/4 mile times an trap speed with 100 shot an possibly 150 shot. should i bother with the air gap on my setup? my mods are in sig and i also have an air gap intake, an frpp alum d/s to throw on as well. gimme your thoughts on this, thanks guys

the nitrous kit an parts i have:
Trick Flow plate kit 50-300 in 50hp increments
Dynotune dual purge kit
Zex regulated bottle heater
Summit window switch set to kick in at 3000rpms and out at 5400rpms.

I was spraying 150 on my 86, had an injected 89 engine(never opened), but welded on subframes, Southside lowers, front stabilizer stayed in the garage, and a passenger side airbag, M&H's, ran 11.43/122-and got my ass kicked out of Union Grove after that one pass, for owning none of the required safety stuff . I honestly don't know how the carb setup will react, the Airgaps are nice racecar intakes, but hood clearance might become an issue, no? And there ain't much air under the stock hood worth a chit, anyhow, might wanna try a cowl of some sort? But with the 600, I would try the 100 pill before the big one, get the bigger jets ready, and back that timing down, unless you hate the motor! Spray will surprise you, take a minute to get used to it- sounds like you aughta be near the 11's with it, too, once its dialed in!

11.4@122?!?! i would be as happy as a 5 yr old at a candy store lol. the intake on the car now is an edelbrock performer 289, i have the air gap layin around an i figured it would be better. as for the hood, well i have attached a pic of it its a 2.5 inch cervini's so i think clearence whise i should have no problems. the spray plate is an inch an still the motor isnt close to the hood. also have welded in subframes, only thing i think will stop me hittin 11s is the springs, there sportlines an allow no transfer at all. i sprayed 50 shot on the street once an even with the nitto drag radials hot it still spun all through 2nd an 3rd. pulled really good! if i hit anywhere near your trap i would be seriously happy enough to hump my car

car is 3200lbs without my sub/amps in the back. with me an about a half tank.

i dont see why i would run that crappy on 150 shot. depends on the kit i know that, some are designed to give 150 hp at the wheels like mine, older ones is just 150 hp at motor. either case ill be extremely pissed if it took a 150 shot to hit 12s. that just doesnt sound right. im pretty confident that on slicks i can run pretty low 13s on motor. 101 trap with my weight says 13.1-13.3's with good traction. some people on stangnet have trapped 99 but ran those times. 50 shot i think would get me to run a 12.8 or so.

what did you run on motor/spray jim? what kit? new/old?

if your running 13.9 at 100 on motor i would probably expect something along the line of 12.8ish at 108 on the 150 shot... a one 150 should typically take a minimum of a second off if not a little more... my 125 takes about a second off my et...

No, allballs is right on the money:nice:, the buck and a half only took a little more than a second off my four eye(***king loved that car, shoulda kept it, and not got married:mad:- ahhh, to be young and stupid), if you set it up to run consistant 13's, it'll set ya into the 12's, and so forth. The real gains are in getting that power to the ground- half the battle is right there. My suspension was set up, and those M&H's, got out of the hole like it was rear ended by a train, 1.60+ 60 foots is the key. I had the spray(an old, seriously rudimentary kit, by todays standards) on the Hurst T handle thumb button, shot it soon as I got second(3.73's). Foxs want to be fast, we just have to teach them.

maybe those times on street tires. but i cant see my trap only gaining by 7 mph with 150 shot. i run 13.9-14.0 at 101 now, 2.1 60ft. i can obviously run low 13s on motor with slicks. i know that. i am confused now, you had said your untouched 89 motor in your 86 ran 11.4@122. whats so different bout your motor then mine, if anything i would be makin better power off the bottle so why wouldnt i be somewhere near that? i mean i know theres alot of factors, but if you could do it whats saying i couldnt? you didnt mention anything besides the spray an the same motor i have. im more or less lookin for trap speed. quarter mile time is effected more by wheel spin then trap right? you guys think all my car is good for is the times i ran at that mph?!?! very confused on the thought lol

as an example. someone i know ran 12.0@115 on motor, an on 100 shot not even full track ran 11.7 but at 122 mph. spray didnt kick in till top of 2nd or beg of 3rd.

Yeah, see, just that Idk about how the carb setup will work- I ran that hard, but on a pretty well tuned, mass air, injected setup. Its not saying your car won't, it just that I don't know:shrug:. Last carb I had had a 55 Chevy under it- long time ago! There isn't any reason it won't. Times are 90% wheel spin, or lack thereof- driving always counts. Speed is the car- and conditions. I set mine up to get out of the hole. Period. And, boy, would it. Thats where you win or lose, no matter, uh, what the venue is:rolleyes:! I didn't have a strut tower brace, or a front swaybar, had stock struts/springs, nothing works like Southside lowers, but the subframes shouldn't be much different. I did have 3.73's, and planted it with some nice M&H's, on about a thirty degree day, and a clean track. I didn't think it'd go that fast, or I woulda prepared better, or had better excuses when the safety guy came up to us with his questions:rlaugh:! No, you could very well run that good, and prolly will, but I don't wanna be the guy who says it'll run like an F-18, and if it turns up to be a Sopwith Camel, I'm more stupid than usual:D!

haha i gotcha. ill be running this sunday if all goes as planned. i will be on slicks but not so much to launch off rev limiter or anything, but more so i dont spin in 1st,2nd,3rd an maybe 4rth. on the street i sprayed the 50 an it was all over the place in 2nd an 3rd with the nittos really hot! what are the safety's if any that i need to runs the spray at the track?

the bottle has to be vented outside the car, you need a permit, you need a fire proof jacket, the line has to be run outside the car, and the bottle has to be secure...

sorry tyler, i didnt see you post anything originally about slicks... i mean, they are going to help you but from what i remember, you car has stock heads right? my car dynoed 280 rwhp and ran a 13 flat with sticky tires and heads... with juice its a low 12... i really hope you can pull of 11's but i think its going to be hard on stock heads...

heat the heck out of those tires... its pretty cold out and traction sucks this time of year...

:stupid:

Please call me the first time you run at Island...I will bring the camera :rlaugh:

sunday will be that day, so feel free to bring the camera bill, if something comes up and i dont go i will text you saturday but i dont see that happening honestly. doin the little stuff to it tomorrow. will have a helmet an fire jacket too. the nitrous line is run outside. you dont need a blow down tube to run because asher actually ran without one a couple times. i will order one tomorrow though, totally forgot about it or i would have bought it tonight when i got my bottle filled  like i said, cant really launch hard, slicks are more so i dont spin in all the gears. 11s would be real nice but im not gettin my hopes up, especially with 100 shot as that is what ill be running on sunday with. later on a 150 most likely will happen but deff need a trans an clutch before that as i think this 100 shot might end the life of my trans pretty soon lol. we will see soon enough. aslong as i run 12 something an have a good trap ill be happy..ill deff post timeslips good or bad though, lets just cross our fingers that there good :D

Figures, I spent last night plowing this little lake effect snow we had here, while Jersey, the whole east coast, getting hammered by a massive snow- I'm guessing there was no racing!

yeah no racing. has to be 40 degrees for the track to be open, it didnt snow it just wasnt 40 degrees. ill be going as soon as the track is open. on a good note..i messed around with some mazda 3 couple days ago and he ran 12.8. me on motor he got me by a half car. me on a 50 shot i beat him by about a half car or so. apparently those lil cars are turbo, an take my word, there pretty quick. suprized the **** out of me. im still lookin for a lil extra somethin on motor thats not expensive..maybe this air gap intake i have an should be putting on today will help a decent amount. ill keep you posted guys.
