will this cam be too big? i dont want to have to flycut the pistons. i have npi heads so i was told i shouldnt have to degree or anything but i want to ask you guys first. oh, and is this cam decent for a blower setup? i have a lead to get a set of these for cheap but i need to know that they will work on my car without any major problems and be worth the time. i already know i have to do springs, so that is not an issue really. thanks guys.

well the stock PI cam has a lift of .505/.531
I think this would work since its only got a lift of .487" / .490"

but Ill let a real professional answer you question though.

Am I just mistaken or is degreeing a cam just verifing that Comp cams gave you the right cam?

So how do you like your hi-techs, I am thinking about getting the stage 2 blower cams? I will certainly use that thread when I get them.

Call the Comp Tech Line and ask the lads if the cams are blower friendly. Call HiTech, too, because they are good guys. I will opine that 274's have too much overlap (intake and exhaust open at the same time) for a supercharger. Yes, you need to degree aftermarket cams. The stock cam gears are sloppy and can result in pretty gross mistiming (e.g.-- "minus 6 on one side and plus 7 on the other" is entirely possible). Sometimes the gears line up perfectly and the result is a "factory freak" that outrun cars that are the same otherwise.

A few phone calls will pay dividends.
