14.618 @ 3192 ft (DA)

What would be the best temp and weather conditions for racing? When I get my 14.6 @99mph it was about 90 degrees and humid here in southeast kansas. Would that affect it? Sorry for the dumb questions, but I am a newbie to this.

Don't lower the air pressure in radial tires. The Radial already has a longer foot print than a Bias ply tire, and making the radial have just a little longer foot print doesn't give you anymore traction, what it will do is make your car unstable.
A 8 inch wide tire gets the same traction as a 10 inch wide tire when both have the same compound. I'll prove this to you if you like.

If that is the case, why do dragsters use wide tires? If there was no more grip in wide tires then race cars would all run skinny tires to keep the weight down.
 
Yeah, I gotta call BS as well. A larger contact patch will give you more traction. Two tires made of the same compound may have the same traction (per square inch), but the more of that that touches the road at any time, the more traction you have.
 
I didn't realize he was stock, nor did I realize it was already DA corrected. However, Motortrend actually got 13.5 out of it stock.
I don't think I'm understanding the meaning of DA correction.
The only thing I corrected was the elevation. My track is at 1002 ft but w/ the 88 degree air, 65* dew point, and 60% humidity, the calculator said 3k feet of DA.

So when people talk about DA, is the ET corrected as well? Because the ET I posted in the subject line is the ET on my timeslip.

Look, When My daughter ran a 13.7 in my stock 09 mustang GT auto, It was 95 Degrees out side and I would guess close to 100% humidity. It's Huston You Know. All that Da is just BS

You do have a point there since 8" wide Mickey Thompsons will grip better than 10" wide Sumitomos.

When DA correcting, you need to enter in the things that you did, but the purpose of doing so is to correct your 1/4 mile numbers. Your DA corrected ET is 14.05@101MPH.

This is just not true, If you knew anything about drag racing you would know this.
We aren't missing the point. We all understand perfectly what you're say. We just all believe that you're wrong. What you are saying is that, let's say for example, a MT ET Street, provides the same amount of traction when it's 7" wide or 12" wide, and furthermore, lowering the air pressure only adds rolling resistance, and provides no additional traction benefit.

You said you could prove it, so prove it.

I've got over 200 passes under my belt. 40 on street tires, and the rest on drag radials. I've tried all different combinations, and several different DR's. I can most definitely tell you that lowering your tire pressure below 20PSI does increase traction. Further, it doesn't take any drag racing knowledge, only knowledge of simple physics to understand that when the tires are trying to spin, a large contact patch is going to reduce that spin.

I know you like to fight and stir up trouble. You're not winning this one. I'll eat my hat if you can prove to me that a car running a 7" slick with 45PSI will hook up the same or better as if that same car straps on a 10" slick at 20PSI.
 
The tires on a Top Fuel car cause a ton of aerodynamic drag, but they keep on using wide tires, that must be because they don't know what they are doing. By oh9mustang's reasoning, they would be better off using really sticky bicycle tires with 100 psi in them, they would be much lighter and cause less drag. Every thread that he gets involved in he gets in a pissing contest on purpose and insults everyone that responds. And now we wait for the pissed off response and me being called stupid.

i run my 22 inch, 5 inch wide, chrome spinner rims with a with a 185/30/22 fuzion tire with 95 psi in them launching at 6800 and i dead hook.

i can't prove it for you though, sorry. too intense, some people couldn't handle it.



to be serious though, i run my nittos with 18 psi i hooked pretty damn good. anything more then that they would spin off the line and start to hook in second.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just curious for future reference.

theres density altitude calculators online. they take the et, the mph, the time you raced roughly, the location you raced, so it can look up the humidity and everything for that day and converts it to sea level.

certain tracks will convert it for you on the time slip though i've seen. dunno if their track does this.

theres ways alot of bracket racers do this too, i am not good with the math though. i know a teacher in high school who is a big bracket racer, adjusts his dial in depending on where hes racing by calculating roughly what the difference should be.
