oh crap, tranny issues after drag strip

I was at the drag strip. i missed third gear. next thing i know the car wont go forward. i coast it off to the side and push it off the track.. i walk outside..reverse lights are on.. uh oh. i know i didnt mis shift like that play with the shifter..reverse lights off..

anyway, the shifters stuck..wont budge left or right. pretty much the trannys locked down. i dont know what ''gear'' its in. I'm assuming its in neutral because the car rolls when pushed without resistance..it's just that it's stuck in gear..or out of it
sum 1 please advise..cars at the track 50 miles away, i gotta fix this!
at this point i'm looking for a new tranny i hope that isnt the problem

anyone have any advice?

Trans is coming out. Sounds like a broken shift fork(s) and/or rod(s).

Any idea how much this will set me back? or if i should just buy a rebuilt tranny all together

MPS has reman's for 1000 - 1500.
Transmissions

Ebay has used T-45s (99-00) for ~$500+ and 3650s (01-04) for ~$750+
If you have a T-45 now I would consider swapping it for a T-3650. They are generally considered to be stronger and it bolts in with a few minor wiring changes
I'd also upgrade to a nice shifter so you don't bend the shift forks. MGW is a top notch company and is located here in my home town.

I did the same thing at the track the other night. I went to hit third the thing just froze wouldn't move. I started hitting the shifter with my palm and it broke free. and then I went to the time shack to get my 22sec run. after that I made 4 more passes and its still holding fine. you might just have to beat on the shift handle, and if its like mine it will bust free and you can drive it home!

1+ on the shifter, ive got the steeda tri-ax and love it, i hear people say once you go mgw youll never use another shifter. is it true. also thats the first upgrade i did, drove strait to holcomb performance, bought it and swapped right in there parking lot. no lie i swear.

ok, just found out its in reverse.. i know i didnt mis shfit reverse going into third, wtf
even though the reverse lights are on the car acts like its in neutral. Epic fubar

I kicked it then took a 2x4 to it and then kicked the crap out of it some more than palmed it then kicked it..then i prayed over it..then i kicked it some more and palmed it a few times again..and after sweat and tears..just when iw as about to give up BAM! it Worked!
