I've got a 1999 35th Anniversary limited (hood/side scoops, two-tone interior, chrome shift-knob) that I bought brand new. I've got a family now and I'm thinking about trading it in for something else the kids can actually fit into.

Does anyone know if there's any real value difference between the regular 1999 GT and the GT with Anniversary package? The normal GT looks like it has a blue book value of about $5,000 trade-in. It only has 57K miles and has never had any major work done other than maintenance, so I'd hope for a decent trade-in value.

Anyone have any experience in selling a "limited" as opposed to a standard GT?

I hate to do this - it's a sad end to an era for me! Who knows, I may just get it detailed and keep it and my wife can continue ferrying the kids around ;)

Please note: no I'm not trying to sell it here. I'm just trying to figure out how much I could hope to get as a trade-in for another vehicle.

The special trim line will not affect value but it may make it a bit easier to sell. Good luck.

Thanks so much for the quick response. So the Anniversary trim line will likely add no real value to the trade-in value. Ugh. That would explain why they don't bother putting that trim on the KBB or Edmunds pricer.

If you cant get at least $7500 ..... keep it. It is more rare and someone
out there will apreciate that. One owner, low miles, thats hard to find also.
That's around the number I was thinking about. $5,000 just seems too low, or at least lower than I'd like. I even contacted a 35th Anniversary group back in the day that had a contact at Ford. I sent them the VIN and they pulled details as to exactly how many were made with those options/color, and what number off the line it was. I really should dig up that email.

I don't know your time frame, but if you are patient you will be able to get more for it than a regular GT. I'd guess at least $2k or so over listed price for a GT.

PS- I completely understand your situation, but keep it if at all possible. You'll almost certainly never be able to get another anniversary as nice as the one you have. I need to get a daily driver this summer and I'm just going to get a (far) less nice daily driver and keep my GT in the garage.

You mean people don't go out and buy the most expensive car they can afford?

I did they same thing. Years I drove **** boxes for daily, and last year when I moved to TX I needed something reliable. I bought a new $12,999 truck. Could have afforded a lot more, but it was all that I wanted.

Its a ten year old car and the trim makes no difference. I think about 6k is reasonable. KBB is often slightly low. What was the NADA value?

Keep it if you can. I'm very close to buying a 2008 BMW 335xi coupe, and I wont really need the Mustang then. I looked at selling it, but theres just no point selling it for next to nothing after I put so much cash and love into it (bought it new). I'm keeping it forever. Too good a car to sell for pennies.

The "Limited" option was $2600 over the standard GT. Given age and depreciation, you should still expect to get about $1000 more than a standard GT. The right person will see the difference, especially with the low miles. I'd shoot for $7500 -8000.

There are a million "special edition" Mustangs, this dilutes the value of any particular "special" edition.

Hell Ford comes out with anniversary editions every five years!

The trim means nothing to the price but it may make it easier to sell private party.
