2 questions..

so, i have a 2008 GT & i've heard rumors about there's a certain code you can do in your car to turn the seatbelt ding off without buckling your seatbelt & then another to do with your "fuel level low" thing. it's not that i don't wanna wear my seatbelt(i stay protected ), my boyfriend says it annoys him cause he's all against a seatbelt because of something that happened to a friend of his a long time ago. but anyways, is this true & if it is, what is the code or whatever you'd call it & will it work with my car ?




2nd question is, i keep seeing pictures of GT 350 mustangs, 05-09 body styles. might i ask what these are ? i've seen them alot but i don't know what's different about them & doesn't hurt to ask..

I think the directions for turning off the seatbelt chime are in the owners manual, but I think it is only for each time you turn the car on. I think I remember it sounding like way too much work to have it just turn on again next time I started the car.

The second question, I am assuming you mean the Shelby GT, there is no factory car called the GT350. But the Shelby GT is a standard GT with a different grill, 15 more horsepower, a 3.73 rear end I think, an upgraded suspension, a californa special front and rear bumper. There are some other differences, but thats the basic idea.

ok. i just saw a few pictures here and there that have a GT350 sticker on the side, so i figured i'd find out what it's about.

and if it is a lot of work, then there's no point. he can put his seatbelt on or deal with it

There is no 350. It's just a custom sticker.

Mine had a GT350 sticker on it when I bought it, and I've seen a few others that have them too, but not very many. As far as I can tell, it was just another one of those useless dealer packages. I don't think that there is anything special about them except the sticker, and maybe a specific trim package. Nothing performance wise, and they definately don't make 350 HP like the namesake I'll probably end up taking the stickers off when I do my chrome badging in black nickel plating...but it is funny to see peoples reactions to it. The average Joe doesn't know that it doesn't make 350 HP.....LOL

Also, the answer to the first question, although I recommend against it, and I make all occupants wear their seatbelts, as my own life has been saved twice by seat belts:

One time disable
If at any time the driver/front passenger quickly buckles then unbuckles
the BeltMinder
feature for that seating position, the BeltMinder
is
disabled for the current ignition cycle. The BeltMinder
feature will
re-enable during the same ignition cycle if the occupant buckles and
remains buckled for approximately 30 seconds. Confirmation is not given
for the one time disable.



Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature
The driver and front passenger BeltMinder
are
deactivated/activated independently. When deactivating/activating
one seating position, do not buckle the other position as this will
terminate the process.
Read steps 1 - 4 thoroughly before proceeding with the
deactivation/activation programming procedure.
Note: The driver and front passenger BeltMinder
features must be
disabled/enabled separately. Both cannot be disable/enabled during the
same key cycle.
The driver and front passenger BeltMinder
features can be
deactivated/activated by performing the following procedure:
Before following the procedure, make sure that:
• The parking brake is set
• The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission)
• The ignition switch is in the OFF position
• The driver and front passenger safety belts are unbuckled
1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately
1 minute)
• Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.
3. For the seating position being disabled, buckle then unbuckle the
safety belt 9 times, ending in the unbuckled state. (Step 3 must be
completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt warning light turns
off.)
• After step 3, the restraint system warning light (airbag light) will be
turned on for three seconds.
4. Within 10 seconds of the light turning on, buckle then unbuckle the
safety belt.
• This will disable the BeltMinder
feature for that seating position if it
is currently enabled. As confirmation, the restraint system warning
light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
• This will enable the BeltMinder
feature for that seating position if it
is currently disabled. As confirmation, the restraint system warning
light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by
3 seconds with the light off, then followed by the restraint system
warning light flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds again.

a few guys around me have gt300 on the side. its stupid as hell. and will actually call it that. they say its because its 300 horsepower. but its still stupid to me.

yeah i have a gt 297.3, not quite 300.




also bradley he could be adding an aftermarket racing harness to the car which would take place of the stock seatbelt.

i have been considering adding race harnesses, so i would have to find out how to disable both front seatbelt dingers.

Well there are 2 different types of GT350 stickers. There are the small GT350 stickers that go between the door and the wheel well. These are aftermarket sticker sold by different places to look like the original GT350 stickers. The ones that are on my car came on it new, and like I said, were most likely some special dealer package. I would never put an aftermarket GT350 sticker on my car, since there is no such thing as an S-197 GT350. But since my car came with these on it new, it makes no difference to me that it has them. I may take them off just because I prefer a more plain, clean look.

Nope, SHE plainly said that the only reason why she is interested in disabling the nag bell is because her BF doesn't like to wear his seat belt. If you have racing harnesses, then its understandable. But, ultimately it is a personal choice whether to wear a seatbelt or not.......I just know that I have been in 2 accidents where I would have been ejected had I not worn mine. One was going into a creek bed at 60 MPH, and the other was a rollover. I would not have survived either.

yes, as a matter of fact i am a SHE and disabling the beltminder isn't gonna mess anything else up is it ?

and with the GT350, i would go with taking the decals off too. only because, yes it looks better, & 2. i would hate to hear the nagging from all my other guy friends about how it does have "350 horsepower" idiot.. i know it doesn't.

With a 91 or 93 octane tune, CAI it would (at the crank)! I've seen several manual cars put down high 290s to nearly 310 RWHP with only 93 tune, CAI and mufflers Factor in an average 14% drive train loss and you're up in the 340-350 range!

Also, the original Shelby GT350 Stangs didn't have 350 HP either! They had around 305-310. Rumor has it that it was 350 feet from the engineering building to the main headquarters...

I have heard that rumor as well actually...it was in one of the Mustang Montly issues that had some of the factory workers from Shelby's factory...don't remember the exact issue, but maybe I will dig it out
