I recently purchased an 05 GT convertible that had the Shaker hood intake installed. I've noticed now that when I'm at lighter acceleration between about 1500 and 2000 RPMs I get a crackling, static-like sound coming from the intake area. Above 2000 RPMs it is gone, and it is not there in that RPM range under heavy acceleration. Is this just something to expect with the Shaker intake setup, or is something not right?

Use to have an 04 Mach1 and those shaker systems are touchy from the shaker cowl rubbing etc. It sounds like at the lower rpm it's rubbing on the underside of hood or intake. Apply pressure on it while it's idling to see if the noise changes and adjust height accordingly. Man I miss the shaker system from the Mach1 and remember how neat it was watching it shake when I romped on it and sometimes the added intake air would sound like a S/C.
