Ok I bought the 90 GT......

Ok just got home from picking up the GT.... I know I know were are the pictures...:D..They will be up soon i promise by tomorrow .... Well the car runs great needs more stupid crap fixed then i thought tho..can i get some help with that...LOL...

1- the passenger door lock doesnt go up or down,what can that be?
2-the A/C-heater controls dont light,how many bulds are back there and how do i get to them?
3- Horn doesnt work,what can i check?
4-sunroof latch the one bolt is broken,do they sell new ones?
5-the instrument cluster the 2 screws by the front winshield the one clip is broken,How can i fix that?
5-Aftermarket radio only 2 speakers work..have to trace wires because it has aftermarket speakers too..
6-Needs front brakes..
7-emergency brake doesnt hold..needs adjustment or back brakes worn?
8-Check engine light is on but the car runs great..it has no cats if that could be doing anything?
9-oil pressure gauge is high when driving after the car idles for awhile it goes down but as soon as you step on it,goes way up again is that ok?


I think thats it for now...Other then that the cars runs good and seems very quick, The only mods it has is a K&N air filter in the stock air box,70mm TB,bbk shorty headers,off road X-pipe and Mac cat back....sounds nice too...
 
I'll answer what I can for you.

1. Lock actuator perhaps. When you use your key in the door, does it still not move? Or is it only when you're trying to use the elctronic actuator?

3. Check the fuse (should be fuse #16, 20 amps. Look at the diagram here: http://www.ponyperformance.com/foxfusebx ) and wired connection under the steering column. Make sure none of the clamps worked their way out. But my guess (and personal experience) says the fuse is probably the issue.

4. You should be able to match the bolt at a hardware store......or check LRS. I know they have covers and full latch assemblies, but I didn't see the OEM style hardware last time I looked.

5. Not sure on the radio besides tracing the wires, and I think you can order new clips from LRS or CJPONY?

6. Pads and rotors (if you need them) that are stock replacement won't set you back that much, all things considered. But maybe it's time to take advantage of the situation and do bigger brakes? You ever done a brake job?

7. I'd check for the cable stretching first. Get up underneath and check the guide brackets bolted to the floor pan. If you see it slack, go to the rear brakes and check the cable there. Or you can play with the handle. and try to move that spring (I don't know how successful that method will be).

8. Do a KOEO/KOER self test procedure (search it on the forums here, you'll find it) and see what codes you get. Post them here and we can evaluate what's going on with the engine. As for running no cats, I don't have them either. Nothing wrong with it other than more hydrocarbons to breathe.

But those are always very sweet smelling. :rlaugh:

9. When the engine is operating above idle, more oil pressure is good. But you say it's "high." How high? Stock gages are built to have some hysteresis and that can throw off some readings. How high is it? Do you have an aftermarket gague on it?

remove plastic trim, there are like 4 bolts behind it and it comes out

You said you had an airbag light - its probably the clock spring. It will make the horn not work also

You can't, you have to get creative and jbweld or epoxy a new tab. Happened to me too

Remove speakers that don't work and make sure they are even connected first.
6-Needs front brakes..

Check back brakes first - then adjust accordinly
8-Check engine light is on but the car runs great..it has no cats if that could be doing anything?
Shouldn't cause a CEL - but put a code reader on it and pull codes.
9-oil pressure gauge is high when driving after the car idles for awhile it goes down but as soon as you step on it,goes way up again is that ok?
Could be a bad oil sending unit

The door lock doesnt move up or down even with the key...

I have done tons of brake jobs so thats not really an issue...lol just was venting that it needs brakes...I will do new emergency brake cables to i want the braking all decent on this...I drive 50 miles day this is my daily...

I will check the fuses to day to see in thats why the horn isnt working...

I did forget to also add the crusie control button on the right side of the steering wheel is well gone it must have broken the plastic piece can i get them anywhere? or do i have to buy another steering wheel to get that?..

I asked simple questions because there are like a million of these fox bodys on the road so i figured that these problems have occured before thats why i asked..And yes i will be turboing this car in the next few monts...Can i do the work YES...Am i capable of doing the work YES....Sometimes im lazy but i can do just about anything once i put my mind to it...:nice:Thanks for some of the stuff you answered...:)

door lock actuator. pull the pannel and check voltage at the clip. its most likely the actuator frozen, unless its not getting power

the fuse. theres probably a dime in your cigarette lighter. sounds crazy but this happened to me, the dime kept shorting out my fuse, which has the cig lighter and horn on it.

its a major PITA, ive been batling this for the past year or so. both of mine are broken, i had to cut plastic replacements, and super glue them to the dask then bolt the thing back to the dash. still makes noise. worst design of fox bodies ever.

pull the drum off. its simple, remove wheel bang the drum it should fall of.

thats probably it. go to advance auto and have them check your code for free.

thats fine. its just a broken in motor. as long as it doesent dip below 20psi.

Thanks ill check for change in the cig lighter...As for the oil gauge its the stock gauge while driving its a little over the half way mark on the guage..Idling its on the 1st mark of the gauge..as soon as you apply a little gas to the pedal it jumps right up...Im thinking thats normal?
 
Ahhh, the welcome to the world of being nickel and dimed to death. One more reason I don't miss my old Fox. :D

The list doesn't sound too bad though. Sounds like it might be an all right car once you get the little stuff ironed out.

Yeah small stuff kills you...And thats what i saw just on the drive home...LOL...once im driving the car for awhile im sure there will be other things wrong..LOL...I liked the car because it is an unmolested GT orignal body panels never been re-painted or body work...Thats a plus...No rust only a very small amount on the lip of the hatch thats no biggie tho...
 
Even worse than dropping a dime in the cig lighter port is dropping a penny in there. They are about the same size as the port and a major ****** to get out!

No cats will certainly cause the check engine light to come on, but does not mean there is no other issue.

If your oil pressure is dropping too much, like below 20 psi, sign of cam bearings wearing.

Ford's gages are terible, an issue they still have not fixed!

I know the factory gauges are the best but for now thats what i have..lol..the car after warmed up at idle is just below the middle line actually the next line from the bottom...when driving its above the middle line..so im guessing it should be ok...The other issue i just found was i got gas last nite when taking the gas cap off it made a loud SWissssh sound like it was hoiding vac what could that be a bad gas cap?

Sounds like the vent tube is plugged or kinked. Likely dirt and crud from over the years. If the car is running rich (and with a CEL on, that may certainly be the case) this could be part of the problem. Trace the tube back from the filler neck to the tank and clear it of obstruction and see how it runs.
