Hi
Last week my top wouldn't go down and I could smell hydraulic fluid/brake fluid. The cylinder on the drivers side blew!! Thought this might help someone when they have this problem....

Ordered another and my son replaced it tonight, Ordered on E-bay, Hydro-E-Electric. They have a bunch of vert stuff for older cars Tops. pumps window weather stripping etc.

Funny, im doing the exact same thing. I haven't got that far yet, because i gave up because of the styling bar. Turns out i have to remove both side panels so i can remove the styling bar.

Mine is leaking on the driver side also. Not sure what yet.. might be a hose.. or a cylinder

the pass side cylinder on my 88 was leaking to the point where every spring i would have to refill and prime the pump. didnt want to spend the money on a new ram so i pulled the pins that hold the top frame to the rams and work the top manually. not all that hard, top and frame is light, just kind of a PITA.
I am going to replace the motor, both rams and lines one of these days, ill have to check that place on eBay your talking about.

Ford service manual calls for MERCON® Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting Ford specification. Is type F an equivalent? IDK

type F is an older tranny fluid its not the same as Mercon....the friction modifiers are different between the 2. normally type f is a little more expensive than mercon
