Talk me into keeping my car

I know this is something commonly talked about on this forum but I need help:

Planning on supercharging my car in the spring. Started a list of parts that I need/want to make some decent power. I'm already over $6,500, and that does not include any type of engine work.

I'm considering attempting to sell my car in the spring, add the $6,500 to the selling price, and maybe get out a small loan to get an 03/04 Cobra. The only reason I'm considering this is for the fact that the motor will be miles (technology wise) ahead of my stock 2v.

New Mustang is out of the question. What would you do?

Well a Cobra would be very nice to have, I would keep the GT. Why?
Well
-If you keep it looking stock you have that sleeper effect
-Dont have to worry about driving it somewhere and worrying about someone vandalizing it or stuff like that cause it appears to be just a Mustang...
-Insurance would be cheaper.
-Its different cause you made it yours and its different.

Cons
-You poured a lot of money into it that you prob wouldnt get back if you sold it.
-It aint a Cobra lol...
-The GT doesnt have the Tremec T56 transmission with that extra gear..
-the 4.6 4v would be sick to own:D

Thats all I can think about..

Personally, I couldn't sink $6500 into my car in just one mod (blower) unless I had plenty of money.

That's why I got nitrous. Under $500 in my case and it'll make just as much power as a blower car, or more, and it's much less involved. There when I want it, but I can leave it off and forget about it (except for keeping the bottle in the car on a hot day, hah).

get a cobra.. after you put a blower on the GT the next weakest link is going to break... over and over until you have as much money in it or more then you'd have in a cobra. A cobra will always have a great resale value where the GT is just going down. The cobra has a great motor/block/internals/suspension/tranny/interior/brakes/body.. it's just an outstanding car all around. My dad sold his 03 cobra when i was 18.. but i got to drive it / race it whenever i wanted to (as long as i kept it spotless whether i got it dirty or not :))... and it was a completely different car then my 01 GT. plus depending on what HP goals you have the cobra might be cheaper to get there anyway..

The $6500 is including supporting mods such as a new clutch, gauges, tuner, dyno tunning time...the list goes on and on.
With the set up I'll be looking at around 350whp.

Not big on nitrous. I'd hate to have to pay to go fast instead of pushing down a little with my right foot. That and it's not street legal.

Insurance seems to be the only down side right now. How much are those of you with Cobra's paying?

I do really, really love my car but I think in the long run I'd be spending the same amount if not a little more to be in the same hp range with half the resale value.

That is a pretty decent price. I would be looking for a bone stock one when the time comes. The decision will be made for sure after it comes out of winter storage.

That might be the worst time to buy a cobra, or any muscle sports car because everybody is in the market at that time. I just sold my vette at the end of the summer time, and will be buying my next one over the winter. The market for performance cars is down during the winter. Even if you have to store it, it might be worth buying the cobra during winter and selling your car now if you have a backup vehicle. It might save you some cash.

It happens every year. Prices are high in the spring and beginning of the summer and start to lower at the end of summer and fall time. I'll get more out of my car in the beginning of spring. I can go the summer without a nice car and buy one at the end.

Yeah, what's the general insurance price difference for a Cobra vs GT? My car is a second vehicle for me and I pay $54/month for full coverage w/$500 deductible. Any guesses to how much more for same year Cobra?
