JH96GT *OFFICIAL* 2010 NFL Thread

a bit of both. Brady threw 2 TD's and 0 INT's in the first half and it was the the reverse of that the second half. And Jason Taylor stripped brady of the ball on a drive that could have got them back into it and deep in the jets end. Welker was not a factor in the second half and Revis kept Moss in check even though he did not retun after the half moss was still not a factor then

The talking heads on ESPN Radio were giving the Pats a hard time. I caught the tail end of it so I assumed they got beat.

Saints tonight. I look for them to beat the Niners like a red headed step child.

The difference is that those RBs, QBs and FBs already have established possession.
If this is the case, I see little difference between Johnson's catch vs Moss's latest "excellence".

Johnson: 2 hands, over another player's helmet, brought down, then extended in one hand to maintain planar bounds.
Moss: 1 hand, cradled, never brought into the basket.

The more NFL I watch, the more I think officiating/ruling makes it like the WWF/WWE. If you aren't "popular" or profitable, you won't get fair judgment.

Just sayin'.

The difference is Moss didn't drop the ball. Calvin would have been awarded a TD (even with the drop) if he hadn't been contacted by a defender.

Ah boy...So Ben is still suspended for 2 more games, Leftwich was hurt (and subsequently cut), Dixon got hurt yesterday and now Batch is starting. Sure hope he doesn't get hurt or they'll have to go out on the street to find a quarterback :notnice:

They only released Byron for a game to make room for a little extra depth on the line. He is already re-signed.

Moss had the ball in control in that one hand and made a football move after the catch ( running out the back of the endzone) not even close tot he same thing.

he could have brought the thing in and held it with two hands if he wanted to but there was no need.. revis was way the hell behind him and no threat to the play.

What about all these roughing the QB penalties? I think these are getting WAY out of hand with the QBs......Last week during the Browns game, there was one, clearly a clean hit and jsut has the QB threw it, and then the Ravens game.....Even more clear that it was a clean no rouging tackle.
Here is what the ref had to say about the call against the ravens......

"The roughing the passer as I defined it in my opinion on that play is the defender who has driven his body weight onto the quarterback as he‘s tackling him. He’s applying his body weight on there. It’s a judgment call and in my opinion I felt like he had driven himself into the ground with the quarterback."

Really? so the tackler pretty much can not land on top the QB or it can be considered "driving them to the ground".......:bs:

I understand that they are trying to protect them by Come on Man.

The thing that pisses me off about the roughing the passer calls are when you have a DE or DT running at full speed, they are expected to stop in mid air when the QB throws the ball. Sometimes it's just not possible. I've seen the defender try as best as possible to soften the blow to the QB but not be able to stop the collision. They still get the 15 yd. penalty. To me, that's BS.

I can understand the Leagues stance as far as trying to protect the QB's. The most popular players in the NFL are mostly QB's and if they are all out hurt that takes away the revenue for the NFL. But the other side is that this is a contact sport. I doubt very few defenders hit anyone with the intent of hurting them, as Mrvax said many of then try to lessen the blow as much as possible but its a contact sport, injuries will happen. Its not always hits that take out QBs anyway, look at brady he took a glancing blow on the side of the knee that put him out for a year it was not b/c some defender plowed into him at full speed.

I dont want to see the NFL go the way of Nascar where they micro mange it to the point that its no longer fun to watch. The guys in the head office now try to decide where it is ok for a driver to bump another driver and you can hit them but dont hit them to hard and you cant do it in a corner...blah blah blah blah
