The Autocross Tips and Tech Thread

The SCCA created Classic American Muscle (CAM) classes to make autocross more accessible for people who’ve already heavily modified their cars, and people who want to build their muscle cars into incredibly capable corner-carvers.

The only thing better than building an unbridled Mustang, is pushing it to the limit out on course.

This video provides an overview of the CAM rules, and covers the classes 79-04 Mustangs fit into.

Looking ahead is a fundamental autocross skill. Giving yourself as much time as possible to prepare your steering, braking, and throttle inputs will help you get faster. Looking ahead also makes you much less likely to DNF.

This video uses an overhead view of a course to highlight the BASICS & BENEFITS of LOOKING AHEAD.

I think EVERYONE should autocross their 79-04 Mustang. Getting into autocross is REALLY EASY! But many Mustang owners I meet don’t know how to get started.

This video covers the BASICS: WHAT AUTOCROSS IS; WHAT YOU NEED TO START AUTOCROSSING; HOW TO FIND AUTOCROSS EVENTS & HOW MUCH EVENTS COST.

I also discuss THE BENEFITS OF AUTOCROSSING YOUR 79-04 MUSTANG, and I address the MOST COMMON CONCERN I hear: CAN MY MUSTANG GET DAMAGED AT AN AUTOCROSS?

If you have any questions about getting into autocross, please ask. I’m always happy to help.
