mixed breed tech forum

To those that claim that it's just as cheap to build a ford motor as a chevy, and why not just keep the ford motor that was in the car in the first place and mod it. I'd say.. What if there was no motor in the car in the first place? What if you are starting from scratch? What if you don't have Uncle Ernies' 5.0 laying in the corner of your garage? What if you had to buy everything new?
Ones engine/trans is really no more or less expensive to build than another. Compare new part prices....they're the same. It’s the swap parts that get ya.

Difference being, that the Ford Fox body is sitting there, ready to accept a 302W/351W as it sits, and doesn't require a host of expensive alternative parts like custom mounts, K-member, transmission, adapter plates, ignition system, radiator, headers (except a 351W swap), etc, etc.

Not to mention...I'd like the idea of being able to go in to any dealership, NAPA, or mom and pop local parts store and be able to walk ing and pick up my replacement parts off of a shelf at a reasonable price, when I need it...and not have to order my stuff from one of the few swap companies that does make the part I'm looking for, at inflated prices, that'll take 2-3 weeks to show up on my doorstep.

And lets look at resale time. It's going to be a lot easier selling your Ford Mustang, with Ford specific parts that are readily available and non foreign to your car that it will be to unload some custom project. Sure, there's the odd guy out there ready to take on the endeavor...but they're few and far between and non of them are willing to pay the kind of money involved in the parts and time it takes to pull off a custom project like that.

Trust me..I know. I just went through it selling my "custom" Mercury Cougar. I'll never go through that hassle again. 5.0L Mustangs literally sell themselves. Custom projects....not so much.

As much as I hate to say it, and I really hate to say it, the chevy LS engine is a bad son of a gun. The heads on those things flow stupid numbers. people pull 500hp out of them n/a like it 's nothing.

That being said, I love mustangs. I've been driving them since before some of members here were born. I'd grin If my casket had a pony and bars logo on it.

I personally wouldn't put a chevy engine in one of my stangs, but for a racer on a budget, there is more power to be had per dollar out of an ls. I have a coworker with an single turbo ls2 in a camaro and that monster makes 900hp/980lbft torque. it's insane! When he was still making 700hp I swore I was gonna beat him, but I've since given up. I just don't have enough money to pour into a sbf to do that.

I can see completely why someone would do it, but I'm a purist. And hearing that Ford engine come to life makes me smile.(aahh the sweetness!) I love my Mustang!

I am glad to see that stangnet DOES NOT have a mixed breed tech forum on this FORD MUSTANG web site, like corral, I posted my opinion that gm engines need to be in gm cars and not fox mustangs, then i got warned to read the forum rules or be banned from the site. does any one agree with me?

Do you need a tissue? Honestly, do you think that whining about someone putting a chevy in a ford in their build thread is going to change their mind? Ok, you think its wrong, but what does complaining about it do?

That forum is FOR builds of mixed lineage. It is not for people to go in there and bitch about them. What's so hard to understand about that? Half a dozen morons to date just couldn't get that through their heads no matter how they were coached, so the site is proactive about eliminating every new one that pops up.

oh so now im a moron?? because i have an opinion? I just think a FORD MUSTANG web site should be about FORD MUSTANGS, (like nmra or ffw racing events, ford car, ford power,, for all brands, there is nmca.)

I find it hard to believe you put a bone stock gt with bolt ons at 12.75 @ 105 NA Im calling BS on that one.

If you gutted the car and had slicks maybe Id believe it.....Clean LX has a coupe with the following

12.96 @ 104.0
full exhaust.
4.10's.
76mm MAM.
air bag in the right rear.

stock original motor. (tb/intakes/vlv cvrs/oil pan/timing set etc never been removed)
stock original suspension. (bushings/shocks/struts/cntrl arms/k mbr etc.)
gt interior.
no weight removal. (ok, spare/jack and floor mats, 3240 race weight)
3000 d/a... would correct to deep into the 12's at sea level.
NO BS, i had weight removal, the spare tire and jack, front sway bar, and raced on 26x8.5 and that was back around 98 or 99. and cool sept weather. 5500 rpm launch 1.70 60ft.

I don't think he called you a moron directly. (At least from the way I read it)

You can read what you want into it though, because there area couple of points obvious:

#1 you asked for opinions to reinforce your belief that the corral and this forum should be all about Ford.

The large percentage of replies do not agree w/ you.

#2 Based on that large percentage, the general consensus participating in this rehash of an beat to death topic has "inferred" that it is not cool to voice your Ford chest thumping opinion in a thread built for mixed branded build ups.

You still believe that you are entitled to "your opinion"

Clearly, You are entitled to your opinion, but if you can't see the writing on the wall, and don't like what comes back when you throw out that opinion, you might want to review your " Am I a moron guide book"

I didn't say you were a moron, but if you're the kind who insists on going to one specialty forum among dozens on the site, and voicing your opinion that you disagree with its entire premise, when it's been made abundantly clear your opinion isn't welcome, then yeah, "moron" might be the nicest of descriptions that could be applied.

In a hopeless effort to get back on topic, i just noticed late model restoration has a new section just devoted to Coyote swap parts. Hopefully once that engine is put in enough different cars and trucks over the next few years, a used one will actually be cheap enough for normal people to swap into their foxbodies. u can keep a ford in ur ford.

So the motor changes the name of the car? I wasn't aware...So I guess all those Big block drag cars are technically Vans and trucks. Someone should really tell them

ROFL :lol::rlaugh::D:hail2::owned:

As for this debate, Like everyone else said I cant imagine how many times its been beaten to death... And if you followed up on this website you would of seen the build of a notch with a BBC on here a couple of weeks ago. So you thinking you came to a bunch of ford/ford guys has you sadly mistaken.

LQ9 6.0, big cam, and some giggle gas would do my 93 wonders... And I would throw the 302 in the other car....

Fast for cheap. Or better yet, better performance per dollar. Isn't that the mantra of everything hot rod? To make your car perform better for the least amount of cash?

Chevy in a Ford isn't that big of a deal.

So who here would go up to a guy at a car show with a sick as hell all steel '32 Highboy roadster with a SBC as a power plant, give him a ration of Siht for it not being Ford Powered? I doubt anyone.

I hot rod is a hot rod no matter what it is powered with.
