I got a toploader 4-Speed off of Ebay and my Son-In-Law picked it up and paid for it and will bring in down Thanksgiving. He lives in the town where the transmission is. The shifter mount is forward a little and the #s are- D2AR 7006-OA-W2 H271 Tail shaft- DOZR 7A040-A Length-26"?, input shaft OD 1 1/16" Splines in is 10, out is 28. Will this fit my 1965 Mustang with 289 and now has the toploader 3-speed? Or do I have to do something to get it to work. He said he pulled it out of his 65 Stang. I have already ordered the longer Speed cable for the 4-speed. Thanks
I found a tag on the passenger side and it is an- RUG BF Toploader if that helps.

Clean it off and read the numbers, the rear end ratio will usually be the top row and the first thing that is stamped. 2.xx or 3.xx If that doesnt work, mark your pinion yolk and the tire and have someone (with the car jacked up) spin the tire one full rotation and see how many times the yolk spins...not exact but close. Thirdly, read the door tag, and copy down all of the numbers and letters, go on google and search "Mustang decoder" and enter all of your data. It will read out your original paint code, engine, tranny, rearend, blah blah blah. HAVE FUN!
