Should My 87 Motor Have A Mechanical Fuel Pump Block Off Plate?

It is possible for someone to have put an early model T/C on your motor, and then install a block off plate. If that is the case, they would have also plugged the hole in the front where the dipstick would've went into the pan. The Early model T/C was available for cheap last time I needed one, that may be why you have one.
i need to check to see what motor i have, as far as the year... kinda got me wondering. it does have a goofy chrome water pump and chrome edlbrock valve covers so it could be a old non roller motor is all i worry about

An 87 should not have the mechanical fuel pump boss machined, that cover is an earlier one.
Early Fox 5.0s had a mechanical fuel pump up to 85, so that timing cover will fit and work with the accessories. It did not have the dipstick hole, it was cast but not drilled. Also a mechanical fuel pump cam has a different length dowel on the front to hold the fuel pump drive.
Beware of a 79 or earlier block that does not have a dipstick hole. The dipstick is in the oilpan. I almost ended up with an earlier block and later pan, and no place for the the dipstick.
