It can't be anything that fastens from the top. I don't want any holes in the carpet. I'm sure Mike will come up with something creative 
In other news, I realized this thread has over 2 pictureless pages. Not acceptable. I have the whole rear end (minus differential) ready to go for assembly. The local transmission shop owner said he will do the gear install tomorrow. $150. I guess that isn't so bad. I've heard people paying a lot more than that.
So, here's all the IRS parts ready to go...
The upper subframe brackets were powder coated in a semi-gloss black.
I also had the BBRC tank powder coated in the same black. I was originally going to go silver, but decided I would like the black better because it will not stand out as much with the Cobra rear bumper. I'll have a black fitting and black braided line coming out of the sump. Trying to keep things stealth here.
The straps are still bare aluminum. I may have them coated silver for contrast. Still undecided on that yet.

If it was me, I wouldn't care if the fasteners I used to hold it were visible, and I'd use like an Dzus allen, or regular head 1/4 turn of some kind, spaced all in a line all anal like w/ a thin foam rubber strip in between the board and frame to act as a cushion for anti-rattle. If I just had to hide them, then I'd countersink them and use a plug on top. On top, and through the carpet just depends on what carpet you are using,.........I assume that you will use a "no back" of some kind since the area in question has to come up. It is very puncture friendly. Velcro would be my second choice, but the problem has always been the velcro itself holds better than the adhesive backing that holds the velcro in the first damn place. The cushion from the velcro will also serve as a sound dampener to eliminate any harmonic chatter that may happen. If you just had to be all stealth-like and sh it, you could epoxy a magnet to your substrate, so it shouldn't let go of it's backing before the electro bond gives up when removing,..I just think you'll get a chatter from the hard surfaces . If you absolutely don't like the visible option, Go w/ one of your hidden options first,....it's un-doable if it wont work, and will not leave any sign of it being there should you have to improvise.
The things is,...I have to sit and look at it for about 4-6 hours before I come up w/ a finished plan, and most of the time "plan A" gets modified when it doesn't quite work for me. I did learn through your thread to never use worm clamps to hold down break lines. I never knew there were so many clamp critics around here!
I think I may go the way of velcro to hold the false floor down. As long as I used some heavy duty adhesive on the metal and the MDF, I think it will hold up.

Awful lot of chatter here and no progress... How am I supposed to live vicariously through this thread under these idle circumstances???? 
You've got three pictures at the top of this thread. Stare at those beautiful IRS parts until I'm able to post pictures of all that stuff put together. If you're eyes start to burn from all the staring, just rub them lightly and continue on.
One thing I forgot to do when the car was on its side was to expand the lower torque boxes. When I mocked up the IRS, it was a real PITA to get the lower subframe mounts to squeeze into the torque box buckets, and that was just with a bare subframe. It will be much more difficult with a fully loaded IRS.
Took a 1/2" rod, some fender washers, and two nuts and expanded the heck out of them. The black marks on the threaded rod are the original position.
I should have bought enough hardware to do both sides at the same time, but I'm not that smart.
I did manage to get the IRS back together save the differential. Didn't torque everything down yet, but at least there aren't a dozen parts laying all over my garage.
The wheel dolly/4x4 combo gets me a good amount of height. Should make getting the IRS into position much easier.

I'm loving this. I really want to do an IRS in a fox. The next "dd" will probably do it or an Eibach pro-kit and panhard bar. Looks great man, keep it going.

Great progress, Scott! Looks like the floor in my parents garage about a month ago, just cleaner haha.
If you don't already have one, Harbor Freight transmission jack is your friend for getting that thing in and out of the car! I've done mine twice already and I could do it by myself with that jack. I had help both times which just made it go faster, but that jack has paid for itself so many times already.

Haha. I know your pain. Thanks for the tip about the jack. I'm definitely going to look into getting one of those. It is a real bear moving this beast of a rear end around.

Gahh I wish. It's my parents garage that they just finished building. It's 3 bays now so I'm storing my car there over the winter since don't have a garage at the condo I live at. Not sure if you remember the old 2 car, but here's the new one...
And the babygirl tucked away...

Holy mother of God. That's a garage if I've ever saw one! Who cares if it isn't yours. To have something like that at your disposal is amazingly awesome. I like your dad's style.

Maybe you mentioned it previously, but you're sticking with factory torque boxes? No stiffening or support?
I reinforced the lower torque boxes years ago, so I probably failed to mention that throughout the thread. The uppers are no longer used with the IRS, so I don't have to worry about those.

Yea I guess I can't complain. It is definitely awesome to have a nice, spacious place to work on my car with good lighting and nice flooring. I had a lot of input on designing many things in the garage and I'm glad because everything turned out so sick. My girlfriend always gets so pissed when we both go visit my parents for the weekend and I immediately go right out to the garage to tinker with something. She's so screwed when we get our own house with a garage...HAHAH!
