Any input for a stock size tire 245-45-17 for my 01 Bullitt. Thinking about BFG Comp 2 's from Tire Rack.
they are 446$/set + 16.43$ / tire to ship. My car is a semi garage Queen, but it gets driven hard.......or it will when I get used to it...........I am coming from the Miata world.......is it more fun to drive a slow car fast, or a fast car slow. Believe me my stk Bullitt is quite fast , at least in a straight line, compared to my Miata.
thanks for reading!

I'm gonna reply because I hate it when people just read posts and don't provide any input. My '99 GT has Goodyear Eagle GTs in the same size as yours but they are not made anymore. So, I think the BFGs you are considering will be fine for your purposes, especially since the car is not a daily driver.

I highly recommend the BFGoodrich g-Force Rivals! I recently drove a buddy's 2014 GT at the autocross with these tires. The thing has grip for days! Plus they are a 200 treadwear rated tire so you will be able to compete in most classes at autocross if that is what you intend to do. You didn't mention what you intended, but I assumed this is what you did with the miata. Finding this tire is a plus zero size will be a trick. They are available in a 245/40 R18. This would require you getting new rims. American Muscle carries 18" bullitt rims and they look super sweet as well, but at 150ish per rim you would be looking at another 600 bucks just to run these tires. If you are absolutely set on running the 245/45 R17 size then I would go with the bridgestone potenza re11s or the Dunlop Direzza ZIIs.

Hot Rod magazine did a great article on tires for autocross.

Best of luck!

I have a 2003 GT Convertible and put about 3000 miles a year on it. I just bought a set of Goodyear Eagle Sports and have no issues with them. They have a 50000 mile tread wear warranty and as of this writing, I have not read one bad review. I would recommend having what ever tires you buy forced balanced.
