haven't had the car for very long but man, every weekend I am taking off the door panels. first when I bought the car 6 weeks ago, it needed power door lock actuators.... now passenger side one has already stopped working and the door handle won't function, as it is still slightly locked. also, replaced the inner door handle as the spring was broke off the original, now half the time my driver door doesn't want to open. had to adjust the rod a bunch of times and it still isn't right. I have no idea why it won't open properly. is it just my car or is everyones screwy like this often? don't even get me started on the nightmare that was changing door pins too lol. so tired of having to slam the :poo: out the doors too haha.

You're car is old enough that crap just needs to be replaced. Kind of the nature of the beast.

As for having to slam the door, did you replace the seals recently too?

If not, did this happen after changing out your pins?

Beyond new seals you shouldn't have to slam it. Even then that problem goes away as the new seals get seated in.

It could need some adjusting. How does the door align right before you latch it?

yep. so forgot to mention that along with the door pins, on passenger side, the top hinge was bent pretty badly, which was keeping the door from sealing good at the top. water would pour in. I replaced all of the weather stripping door to body as well as window run. I managed to get the door to close better, and alignment looks good actually. but I have to slam the hell outbid that side still. the striker looks fine. I tried to add a striker bushing before the hinge and pin replacement and the door wouldn't even close. I have to grab another one and try and see if that helps. also, I am.debating purchasing a new door latch for passenger door as. thinking that maybe it took a pounding when the hinge and pin was out if whack..... It's been such a headache to say that least. I've replaced lost thing with the door. aftermarket actuators are straight up junk... only getting 3 weeks out of one sucks..... any other suggestions?

@jrichker has a fix for the door locks, I have the stuff to do mine but have not got to it yet, It's a fix that will likely out last the car, I have a copy but it will not transfer over here and I could not find it in the tech forums, he will jump in here and post it for us I am sure.
I HATE slam'n doors! Post some picks and lets see if we can help you out, one thing, is your lock button all the way up?

part of me thinks that slamming the :poo: out of that side of the door caused the current issues with it not working. when power dock locks failed I attempted to unlock with the key and it was very hard to do and moved to the right, but not all the way. I was pulling up in the lock button at the same time as turning the key And i was able to get the car open one time. it wont open again, and the button is all the way up. its been such a headache. which photos would you like to see?

if you can get the door open again, there is a rivet below the door latch assembly on the door, drill out this rivet and the lock actuator will hang on the rod and allow the door to be locked and unlocked, you can leave it hanging until you take the door panel to fix it, it will just rattle a little till then.
the actuator is what is making it difficult to open and close

Stuck with door lock actuators that don't work and don't want to pay the $50+ for a new one? Tried the junkyard ones and found that they last six months and freeze up?

A new actuator for less than $8. Fix one side for $20, do both sides for only $28. I don't sell parts, I don’t make any money off of the upgrade, I just tell you how to do it cheaply and easily.

By the way, I am still using the same $4 actuators I bought in 2002 and this is the second Mustang I have installed them in! Beat that with your fancy replacements!

thank you sir! you deserve an award!

To answer your question. YES. Someone else has door issues (me). Makes the car unpleasant to use. :bang: Cannot stand how many things can go wrong with the doors on these cars if they aren't getting taken care of. Mine has horrible window fitment, one door doesn't close all the way, the other doesn't line up at all, they both leak and squeak like hell while going down the road, they need to be slammed to close, the window track bushings are shot, the lock actuator is broken on one side and the button is broken on the other, my power windows don't move, etc. Old electronics, heavy doors, and negligent previous owners leads to quite a mess. The doors are great if you fix each problem the moment it goes wrong. I know exactly what needs to be done to fix each problem but the door problems soak up money like a sponge!
