One of my friends just sent these pictures to me at 3pm today. Windows down, rearend missing, this was one of the first cars that I created the Cyclone namesake and decal..A 5.0/C-4/8.8 car, with a sportsman fogger.....I sold this car to a kid running, and he trashed it. I bought it back and put it rback together, and got it running 7.0. 1/8th miles, and sold it to a guy that was gonna bracket race it...that was over 20 years ago.

Now here it is,...sitting in some yard with the same front wheels I put on it way back then...you can see me all over this thing.
I gonnpuke..

Nahhh....that car is a mess. I'm not the type to have multiple car projects going on at the same time. I'm guessing that the back glass is gone, and maybe the trunk deck as well...there's gotta be a reason that they drug that topper over the rear of the car.
There's no title for this car. I know, because the kid I bought it back from never got it back to me. The guy that I sold it to didn't care, because he planned to drag race it anyways...( I think he planned to convert the engine over to SBC IIRC).

This car was the first car I spent a decent amount of money on building it...I think I had over 10k in the car back in 97..
I hated the engine choice, I used a World SR cast iron head, a flat tappet cam, and Keith Black hypereutectic pistons. The ring end gap was so huge the car spewed oil out of the valve covers after every 1/8 mi pass
When I sold it the first time, the kids dad wanted me to remove the fogger, because he was concerned that his kid would kill himself in the car with a working 250 shot of nitrous. He also wanted a rear seat. This car had pretty big mini tubs, a 4:30 gear,
10" slicks, And boxed stock rear control arms with some cheap assed rear coil assisted shock thingy from Competition Engineering.

To sell it, I had to hack up the mini-tubs to get the seat to fit, and the holes inside got filled in with fiberglass. I put some 275x15 street rubber on it, and off it went. The kid added a sniper nitrous kit back on, and promptly blew the engine right the fck up. It sat for quite awhile before I bought it back, and I threw some wore out 5.0 in it, and put the fogger back on. It ran 7.0 but.....
( Have I ever mentioned that I hate bracket racing?....) it didn't take a minute and I was done with that car..I sold it again.

I don't want it back,...it's like seeing some old girlfriend though.

The hood is terrible. An oversized thunderbolt teardrop, that was so damn big, that after all of the steel was cut away after bonding the thing on, there was no steel left to keep any integrity.

All of the money spent on this car was paint and body. Dupont Chromabase, Guards Blue, Wimbledon White. The body guy fckd me...took my paint and used it on other cars, and what was left when paint time came barely covered the sheetmetal. A buddy deal gone way bad...I wired his car, welded in his cage, traded some stuff,...and I got what's left

Man I know that feeling!

I have a folder of pics here with an 84 vert that I did a ton of work to - it still needed a bunch of stuff yet, but I moved and my gf at the time wanted to sell it. (It was kinda for her, but it was all my money and time going into it....) I replaced the front frame rail, added frame connectors, swapped the oil pumping V6 that was in it for a Mark VII 5.0/AOD/8.8 combo, found a cowl hood and an 84.5 front nose all before moving. She decided to sell it to a cousin, so I let it go for less than what I had in it. He bought it saying he was going to work on it, but in reality he bought it to flip. Pissed me off to no end - I didn't NEED to sell it, it was just going to make the move a little easier. A couple years pass and a guy sends me an email through facebook. The car is sitting in a junkyard, the nose is gone and this guy has the 5.0 to put into his project and wanted to know if it was a good engine. He sent a couple pics of the sad state it was in and said it was still there if I wanted to buy it back. I chose not to because I had just gotten my hands on an 87 GT vert to replace it that I still have and intend to start over with, most likely building similar to what I intended to do with the 84. It sucks, but that's life I guess!

Man that sucks.

I've been passively searching for my 2003 GT to buy back. It's been 10 years. I know what city it is in and that it has 140K miles on it, but part of me doesn't want to find it just to preserve the memory of the car being in immaculate shape. If I found it all raged out and distastefully modded...i'd feel bad.

My 81 Z28 was my first project back in 1987, put a bunch of money and sweat into it. I sold the car after I got married with no time and space for it. The kid that bought it totaled it less than a year later so I understand. I just sold my truck that I had for 18 years with a bunch of money and work into and that idiot smashed the entire left side of the truck in less than six months. Made me sick.
