When I went to start it the first time to set my timing. The engine started at 2100 rpms and creeped up to 3400 rpms. The exhaust became super hot and fueled out my plugs. I'm new to this and I probably missed something in the settings. With the factory computer it didn't have that issue but was super rich and idled pretty rough. Any ideas what I could be missing in the initial setup?

Mspnp2

Can you give me a rundown on the engine please.
It is a 347 with AFR 1492 heads. Edelbrock performer rpm 2 intake, 70 mm TB. And 30# injectors. It has a comp cam, I don't remember the lift and duration. I had it built 10 years ago. And had other things come up. So I'm finally get back to it. I did have it running with the stock ecu, very rich. But it hasn't been driven. I just bought the mspnp. I still need to install the wideband o2 sensors. That could be some of the problem.

Sounds like the idle air control setting is backwards. Mine did the same thing. It would start high and creep up as the engine warmed. There's something in the mega manual about setting the iac to inverted. I'm no expert at all. A91what handles my tuning for me.

The cam is a 2600 - 6500

Yes the idle valve needs to be set to inverted in the idle settings, my advice is for you to take the time and familiarize yourself with the software before you begin any real tuning, this will make things easier for me to explain to you as we go.
Also you really need to get a WB installed that is a must.

Thanks , and I plan to install the widebands before I do anything else. And I will switch to inverted also. Thanks again
