Failure....this is getting SO freakin old...

Tried to put just 3 psi in it last night...it leaked.
I'm guessing that the pressure found a way out through "not yet completely cured" RTV evidently...this after letting it dry for 6 hours...I'm just about at wits end here..

Where was it leaking from?
around the new lid perimeter in at least a couple of places...it found a way out, and pushed through a pinhole it made in the goop. Clearly,..the stuff wasn't/isn't dry. I smoothed another fillet of that stuff back along the top edge where it was leaking last night, which shoulda sealed it again.....its just taking forever to cure.

It's the hardest thing for me.......waiting.
Lack of patience has ruined many an outcome with me before, but this time I got no choice but to wait...
And wait.....

make me want to live like I want to live now, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

The boosting is the hardest part.

I'll bet it was leaking when it was naturally aspirated too.

You'll deal to this, and you'll just be amp'd when you nail this sucker down.

There has to be a Deep Throat to show where the error lies. It's leaks you don't find and don't know about that cause the problems. My ex 'Nam Irish laundry drill guy at the rest home said it best. It's what you can't see that's dangerous. Don't worry about, just know that a leak is a kind of nothing that sux. Flush it out. Rinse and repeat!

Nail it!

This particular fix is a lesson for me.

It reminds me that I cannot just fix the obvious, I have to go beyond that.

The last time it leaked, I removed the girdle, took off the metal strips that spread the load across the top of the lid. exposed the lid, and sealed the obvious leak.

I left the other side alone.

After I gave it time to dry; I put it back together, put pressure to it, and now its leaking from the other side.

Its one thing when we're talking about a vacuum leak.....a healthy engine might pull 20 plus INCH pounds of vacuum...little tiny holes sucking air are sometimes not that obvious, sometimes not that detrimental to normal engine operation.
But when we're talking about positive pressure from a turbo charger.....we're subjecting those same little holes to POUNDS of pressure now,....and forced air will make even the tiniest of holes, seem like its huge.

I sealed the other side of the lid this morning...
I've decided that I'm gonna remove a pipe plug that I have on the side of the air box and put another gauge there to see if I can determine how much air the box is letting pass versus how much air I'm putting in ( kinda like a leak down test of sorts)

I may have to put my actual stupid leak down tester in use, I dont know..
Regardless,....If the damn thing works, and it shows me a half pound or less of leakage this time around...I'm done with it.

Ok quiz time.....
1.Put a gauge on the box..
2. Put a regulated air supply on another part of the box. Set the regulated air supply to 5 psi...
3. Attempt to seal the 50 bagillion air leaks that are everywhere.
4.Apply air.

What does it mean when the air pressure in the box compounds, and rises rapidly to twice the supplied incoming air before the test is interrupted, as the pressure contined to rise beyond that ?

I know the answer...I'm just checking.

You were successful at sealing that btch up?
Ding! ..you get the cookie..
( a broken, chunk chewed by somebody else that you dont know cookie)

It still leaks...if you spray the box with soapy water while its pressurized, it's like some kind of kids Mr. BUBBLE birthday party happening all over that box...

But I'm done with that leaky bitch....

Its gonna have to do for being monster v 2- .75 bar this year.....

I've just seen the remake in my head for next year...and...it ain't gonna leak.

Monster intake v3-1bar will look like a spider.....a stud spider.

This was the " Stud Spider" I was talkin bout last night...
But my stupid assed phone wouldn't let me link this stupid assed song.

Somehow, the 65 mustang with the SOHC 6 banger got put there in its place...Could be that the 3 whiskey's might have contributed to the difficulty..maybe,.......maybe not.

It's holding more air than its leaking out now...I'm gonna assume that it will now make more than 5 psi...a simple test drive and a DL will tell that tale.

But as all things are with me, I can't ever leave well enough alone..Now that I know that that goofy looking puke tank thing works,....I'm gonna pretty it up with some braided hose, and move it a little from where it was. It's containing the oil alright,..but it's also condensing water,...and all of that is being allowed to drain back into the pan...I'm not liking that plan.

I'm gonna move the fitting that comes from the pan up ( or just "T" into one of the existing ones) and make the bottom one a drain only fitting...That will stop the water from draining back into the pan...but it requires another freakin fitting.

Yesterday's braided hose, and -12 fitting purchase was already high enough for a puke tank......275.00 :nonono:
