I don’t drive it enough. Wish there were more time to enjoy it, but it always seems to get put aside for some other projects or commitments. But last night the wife, yup the wife, said “why don’t we go for a family ride in the mustang.” My eyes lit up. Car was running and out of the garage 5 minutes later and we headed out. I live on Long Island, out in suffolk county. We headed out East on North Road past the sod farms, wineries, farms etc. Made me realize 1) how lucky I am to live in a country that I can do that sort of thing 2) how blessed I am to have such a great little family and how I wish I had more time to spend with them and 3) how much I miss driving that damn car. Only the second or third time it’s been out of the garage this year, although this hasn’t been exactly the a normal year so far on any level. And then on our way home, I’m sitting at a red light. Two young guys in a really clean F-150 are next to me in the turning lane. All of a sudden I hear them revving their motor. So I look over, both of them have big smiles on their faces. They didn’t want to race, they weren’t even go straight, but were obviously trying to get me to romp on my car a bit. I didn’t disappoint them. Light turned green and I dropped the clutch. She went left, came back right, I banged second, daughter was laughing, wife was screaming and I had a big :poo: eating grin on my face. Anyway, it was a great night. Hopefully I’ll get her out again real soon.

I know that exact feeling. Pure bliss.

Every Saturday night for me. Everybody wants to race , but my wife has a fit when I burn them up. I consider myself very lucky to have this old pos. KIMG0271.JPG KIMG0230.JPG

We are very lucky if we got our cars cheap. Most of us have owned them for a while and hopefully did not pay much. I traded the original owner to paint his house. Three hundred bucks in paint and three days labor. When he offered me the deal I had to fight going crazy with happiness. I just kept my cool , and walked away with the title.

Now that’s a deal!!!

My paint was sunbaked and completely flat. My daughter and I polished, and waxed with the buffer. Then I repainted the front and back bumpers. And then from there it never stops...........The guy I got it from still feels bad.

We do have some nice roads out on the island for cruising, that’s for sure! Sounds like you had a great day!

No doubt man. I totally get it. I've had my GT for over a year already now and everytime I drive it, I always think to myself, I don't feel any different than I did when I was in my early to mid 20s and heavily into (modifying/racing) these cars.

To me the foxbody Mustangs just have such personality. You feel things a lot more and feel more connected to the car compared to how refined and quiet the cars of today are. To me, the sound of a roller cam 302 in the upper RPM range is such sweet music to my ears. I've always loved it. The radio in my car isn't the best and I don't care. The sound of that 302 is all the music this old wrench needs. :nice:

Of course I am much older now, but when I'm driving the 'stang, I don't feel any different. :flag:She's a total time machine for me and I'm really enjoying mine.

Enjoy your weekend Gents!

I drive mine daily. Once home from work I rarely go anywhere. Last weekend the local town sponsored a rolling car show, so I went. You wouldn't believe how many people were trying to buy it. Had to have been 10 people. I mean, yeah when I go stop at a gas station there's sometimes someone who stops in and asks if it's for sale (and it is for the right price, make me an offer), but that many offers in one hour or so kinda blew me away. Tells me that either (1) a 93 coupe might still be sought after or (2) it's so ugly that people want it's uniqueness. It's a 4 cylinder and when they find out it ain't a v8, they usually back down; quickly. But I don't care. I like driving the little turd. Also have a nice 92 GT stroker 351w but it's not nearly as fun as the 4 cylinder is. The little 4 cylinder is a hoot. When the turbo packs the pipes it's like flipping a light switch, maybe 70hp off boost and then a second later probably 275. In the winter, tiresmoke in 2nd and 3rd gears (they are useless when it comes on). Surprises a lot of people.

Bought (traded) my first mustang in gosh I think 99 (84 GT), drove the wheels off of it, traded that back to the guy I got it from for an SVO and 85 Mustang L hatchback (I don't think it was even an LX--it didn't have a rear spoiler, but it was a V8/auto), then sold the V8 car for what the 84 GT was worth & kept the SVO for a while to learn how finicky the little turbo 2.3 is. Sold it for a lot more than it was worth (collector bought it), used the money to buy a 2003 Lightning, got tired of the lightning (still kept it though) and bought a 86 XR4Ti that was a daily, added an intercooler from a Porsche, turned up the boost, and did some suspension work. Didn't touch the interior and it was RATTY, you sat on foam and springs since the original leather was long gone. But--as ratty as it was, I didn't really care about it and since I was turning wrenches at a local dealership, I cared less about getting into it dirty/greasy/etc. Had a lady rear end it, and I could have easily blown it off and sent her on down the road but she kept talking about how I stopped too fast in front of her, that I was a jerk, etc, so I called the law and they wrote her up, found drugs in her car, took her to jail, etc etc and her insurance company paid me nicely. Sold the XR used the money from that and the insurance money & bought a really really nice 86 SVO from a friend who needed the money (although he didn't give me a great deal on the car), drove/showed that SVO for years. SVO's are kinda cool but they are STILL a 4 cylinder Mustang which apparently nobody wants so when the time came to sell it, local it had zero interest, so it went to another collector in Kansas I think.

But yeah they're a sickness, but they're kinda cool at the same time (fox body mustangs). They are crude in every possible way in comparison to a 2019/2020 Mustang ecoboost or GT or bullet, but still nonetheless fun. Even a 4 cylinder although I could care less about the automatic versions.

I do not 'love' my fox body mustang
I really do enjoy driving it though
Nobody comes up to me at the gas station to tell me 'nice car', well it has happened a couple times but I think they had eyesight problems
It looks better in a picture taken 20 or 30' away.
But it's mine
And I can get it sideways when I leave that gas station
And I can zip away in traffic leaving those texting, spaghetti taco eating trolls to fight each other for that lane that may or may not get them one space ahead of where they were in traffic
I can jump on the on ramp and know that I can merge in front of that car doing 80 mph in the right lane not paying any attention to what is going on around them because they are watching the latest cat video or reading the latest post on their facepage because I'm probably doing 85 or 90 mph
Yeah, their M3 or Mercedes suv can out run me and I don't care
The 'girl on the other end of the couch' does not ride in it because ' it goes sideways and may catch fire' which has happened the two times she has been in the car
The grandbrats like to ride in it
I can park it at wal mart and not worry about the errant shopping cart or the idiot kid swinging the car door open like they were escaping from a prison
I could park it upside down in a ditch and it owes me nothing
I do not 'love' my fox stang
But I ain't getting rid of it
