Has anyone here had (or know anyone who's had) the vaccine yet? I received my first dose of the moderna vaccine on Thursday (1/7/21) was wondering what others have experienced as far as side effects. Im 37 with high blood pressure. I was fine for the first hour or so then I felt as if I had been hit by a train. COMPLETE lack of energy, loss of concentration.....like somene had shot me with a tranquilizer dart. I even had the worst case of 'jello-legs".

I eventually called it a day at work and headed home. I then proceeded to sleep for a combined 38 of the next 48hrs. I was good by Saturday morning. I've never felt so fatiqued in my life!

Sounds like 2/3 of the symptoms of the virus, but over with in two days instead of two weeks (or three, in my case).

I'd take that over getting COVID a second time any day.

I just got the first dose of the Moderna vaccine on Friday. Saturday afternoon I started getting the worst headache and a little bit of an upset stomach - more of a queesy felling than anything. Sunday morning it was gone. I felt like that when the whole COVID thing broke out too, so I wonder if I didn't get it early on and just not know it.

My sister got the vaccine 9 days ago. I don't know which one.

Edit: this ended up being an unrelated medical issue. All good now.

My MIL has had Covid twice now. The real thing can be scary.

6 days later, she said she felt like she got hit by a freight train. Chills, aches, fever, cough, etc. She said it was the worst she's ever felt in terms of "sick". However, she's had 2 tests that show Negative for Covid. She's since "recovered".

But she said that If that's what COVID feels like, she doesn't want to get the real thing.

Here's the screwed up thing about COVID...

It has vastly different effects on people.

All four people in my household got it. One had zero symptoms whatsoever and only got tested because he was instructed to. Another felt like they had a normal cold for about two weeks. I myself had flu symptoms and sinus-infection like symptoms. The fourth person ended up in the ER to receive a breathing treatment after her blood oxygen levels dropped dramatically during her fifth day with symptoms.

After the two weeks of quarantining were over, three had no lingering effects. I had a cough that took two full months to go away and fatigue for a third week.

That's just out of a small sample of four people.

The worst I'm hearing about the vaccine so far seems like a walk in the park compared to the real thing.

Yep, the same kinda holds true in the hospital from what I can tell. Of course these are mostly worse off than you're describing, but some are admitted and just feel like crap overall, some end up in the ICU with supplemental oxygen, some end up on vents and recover, some end up on vents and pass. It affects everyone differently.

A co workers mother got the vax and about a week later got covid, they are still trying to find out how she got from what I was told.
Other then that I don't know of anyone that has gotten the vax.

Very true. I never knew I had it until I went to the doc for a unrelated problem, they ran a blood panel and found anti body's in me. My father on the other hand almost died form it. Everyone else I know who got it stated it was like a bad case of the flew to a mild cold.

I would think a week might not be enoigh time to develop the proper immunity, considering it’s a 2-shot process.

but then again I’m not a virologist so I have no authority to comment (if only more people realized that)

From what I understand she got covid after the second shot. But TBH I'm not doctor ether and I'm going off second hand info so who knows.

I work in the I.M.C. unit and we got the shots first, there is no virus in the shot,so all that is felt is arm pain at injection site.People tend to come up with symtoms, but none of our hospital staff got more than a pain in the arm.

I've unsuccessfully tried to tell folks there's no virus in the shot but to no avail. I have, however, seen lots of psychosomatic reactions to the vaccine injection. I've also seen a couple folks that thought they had covid and went to get a test.... felt worse and worse those couple hours only to get negative results and suddenly feel fine.

People will still argue the same for the flu. They'll say the only time they had the flu was when they got the shot.

I thought that was why you got the shot,
Get the shot
Get the flu
Get it over with
The flu vaccine has the dead virus and your body builds immunities to fight it.. The Covid vaccine causes a reaction to just the spike protein so your body fights off the real virus when it sees it.

Neither actually gives you a live version of the virus. The flu vaccine doesn't cover all strains and isn't 100%, so it's still possible to get the flu, but the vaccine didn't cause it.

That's why I stay away from doctors
Shoot'n dead chit into my body, nope, I chose what gets put in my body as much as I can, preferably cooked first.
If what you put in your body is cooked first, isn’t it also dead? Or do you like your steak as rare as they do on the cooking contest shows, where the angus gets hotter in the sun than it is on their plates?
:potroast:
Sushi is an item I do not want to consider.

Moderna Shot1...day one--no effects (which was good since I had a 2.5 hr drive home from the VA). Shot1...day two--achy and fatigued with some joint pain. Shot1 day three--still a little achy. Shot1 day four--meh, back to normal.

Moderna Shot2...day one--no effects (same drive, but Mrs went with jic). Shot2...day two--dressed like 40 below, wrapped in blanket, slept most of the day. Shot2...day three--meh, back to normal.

Drink plenty of fluids.

I have my first shot of Pfizer scheduled for mon.

I’m actually one of the last in my peer group but most have reported a sore arm and a little achey on day 2 and that was it. My wife got the J&J and slept for a day after it.
